I'm pretty sure he and Pat Riley cannot stand one another. I also highly doubt he comes out of retirement.

That being said, every sane Heat fan would welcome him if he wanted to coach here. The managing of ego's is one of the most underrated aspects of coaching, especially with a team like this. There's no doubt he would have the respect of every player, and that they would follow whatever instructions he gives them.

Phil and Pat are friendly rivals with mutual respect for each other. They even trade notes on occasion.

There is no bitterness there even though their teams had many fierce battles when Phil was coaching the Bulls and Pat was leading the Knicks.

Riley hires from within (how Van Gundy and Spo got their jobs) and if he was going to go outside no way he would hire Jackson.

Riley has an enormous ego (like most great men) and there is no way he would want Jackson to get all the credit when the team that he built wins. It would be like how Phil gets all the credit for taking over for Del Harris (who is comparable to Spo) and then the team started winning.

Also I disagree that the triangle would benefit us.

We are stuck with Spo for a while, I just hope we can add a really good assistant to help out (kind of like how the Celtics got Thibs except on the offensive side).

Our offense as a whole was good (it would be almost impossible to be bad with all that talent) but it was inconsistent, especially in the half court, for such an elite group.

Unlike a lot of you guys I don't think we should fire Spo. He deserves a chance to grow with this team and see what he can do with a more complete roster. You have to remember how flawed this roster was this year, in this last series we had no true center and Haslem was playing nearly the entire game (which I am sure he was not ready for).

This does not excuse the offense but I just don't think Wade and Lebron were ready to play off the ball this year. Given a full off season to work on other aspects of their game I think they will be much easier to coach. For example posting up lebron should be a go to set for this team, but b/c of his limited abilities in the post it is useless.

I agree. Throw a truckload of money at him. We went all out signing talent, now it's time to do the same with the coaches.

I agree. Throw a truckload of money at him. We went all out signing talent, now it's time to do the same with the coaches.

we don't need a "throw a truckload of money" coach, we only needed a few adjustments, we just need some adjustments, whether that comes from eric, an assistant or another coach.

p.s. money is not the answer to every teams issues.
