I would go with Brooks. He is NBA ready to contribute. He reminds me of Nick Young. A guy who can score and defend off the bench. We need sure things right now. Tough to take project.

I would draft Donatas. While he may not be the ideal big man that the Knicks need, he is way too skilled and talented to pass up at that position. It would be one thing if we were drafting him to be our franchise player (like the Raps wit Bargs), but instead he would just be another piece to the puzzle who would work well with Amare and Melo.

It is a lot easier to plug in a Reggie Evans or a Joel Anthony type player to cover up our weaknesses in the paint than it is to find talent like Donatas.

Quickly snatch up Donatas at 17, then work the phones on trying to acquire another late 1st or early 2nd round pick where guys like Selby, Shumpert, Jackson, and Lee would most likely still be available.

Motie or Selby size or a backcourt player i went with Motie the reason he is dropping is not from the work out but rather from contract stuff about hi buy out. So if there is a question then I would switch to Selby

Dantares wrote:Wow I'm suprised Selby isn't getting much love. Here's a couple reasons the Knicks should draft Selby. Let's go back in time and Compare 19 year old Selby to a 19 year old Derrick Rose out of Kentucky

1) He's bigger than Derrick Rose, measured half an inch taller than D. Rose

2) He can jump higher than Derrick Rose, 42 inch max vert vs 40 inch max vert

3) He can shoot the 3-ball better than Derrick Rose, check out Selby's 3-point % before foot injury

4) He plays better defense than Derrick Rose, he might even be a better defender right now

5) He's got a tighter handle than Derrick Rose, see below for his handles

My point is this kid is a physical specimen like Westbrook and D. Rose and he is going to create chaos by just putting his head down and getting to the basket at will.

wow thanks man for posting this I have been trying to find video on selby and at kansas they dont have much and yes i know this is vs HS talent but seeing the way he moves and his athletic ability is usaullly what I look for when I watch video and man this kid has handle he is quick with the ball and he seems like he could really flourish in this up tempo system

I was wondering the same thing, Moties buyout situation could shy us away...but nobody exactly knows what his contract situation is....

If nothing else, the Knicks appear to be doing a much better job of hiding who they are really interested this time around. Could be Selby, could be Motiejunas, could be Brooks. Heck it could be Tyler for all we know.

But just watching the Motiejunas workout, it absolutely looks like he was tanking it. It definitely looked like he was just chucking it up there deliberately trying to look bad. Honestly, it's the best tanking job since the Spurs pulled just before the Duncan draft.

Now I never quite understand the tanking because of a guarantee (I mean it's not like if you do real well that the team that gave you that guarantee won't take you if you're still on the board) but if anyone looked like he was tanking it, Motiejunas was.

And I will also so, Motiejunas looked like he added a lot of bulk (again in a good way) from what we've seen previously on clips. TBH he looked bigger than Vucevic did in his recent workout. Considering that Motiejunas is more athletic, has higher upside and probably is more skilled right now..as a 7 footer...I would think that you'd go with Motiejunas over Vucevic (especially if it's the Knicks who gave him the promise).

Motiejunas has bust written all over him. Even if u believe that he tanked his workout, he is not the type of player that fits this team either. We either need a C who rebounds and puts a body on other 7 footers who has a pulse on offense such as Vucevic or a shooting guard / point guard hybrid such as Jimmer/Brooks/Shumpert/Shelby.

Hey not saying that I think he's all that (I voted for Brooks), just saying that he looked like he was tanking and that he's bigger than he ever was (in a good way). Doesn't mean anything, the reason Kwame Brown was taken 1st overall was because he looked bigger and better than everyone else.

Brooks won't last to where they are going to be picking but, yeah, it's funny how some people's minds work isn't it. Definitely can see people voting for someone else just so on a mock draft the guy they want can fall to them.

That's kinda not the reason he's dropping. Valanciunas has a potentially even uglier buyout and if he stays chances are pretty good that he'd still be top 5. I do think that he was tanking in that last workout (no one can be that bad if they weren't deliberately tanking) but his problem is that he's had his toughness and intensity questioned. Buyout problem doesn't help but I think he'd probably still have fallen.

Voted Motie. With guys like Brooks, Selby, Shumpert, Hamilton, Honeycutt and Jenkins on the board I roll the dice to hope to trade and land one of these guys. Motie at this point in the draft is to good to pass up.

Donatas Motiejunas has 1 year left on his contract with an NBA buyout clause each year. Essentially not an issue at all.

Changed my vote to Donatas.

Slept on it and reading some of your comments swayed me :D. I was on the fence. Also DX just reported in that workout vid he was pumping iron right before, so that explains that horrendous performance a little bit. Said they saw him workout again and he was much better. So yea we shouldnt be basing much on individual workouts, but that video scared me a little bit even if I said it didnt lol. That was bad.

Brooks is nice but Donatas is a 7 footer. Hes also a pretty damn athletic 7 footer with legit shooting, post up, and passing skills. I think both Brooks and Donatas realistically project as our 6th men or future trading chip, so give me the big man. Yea hes not an amazing defender or rebounder but the draft is about getting talent. Donatas is a talent on another level than Brooks.

Yea this is what did changed my vote. There are a lot of guards left on the board (Ill include Jackson & Lee) but nobody like Donatas. Hes the BPA. We snatch him up and be happy about it. Then we can get a guard with another pick and be looking bootyful.
