SJax trade idea
Coming from an Orlando Magic fan... Would you guys be open to a Stephen Jackson for JJ Redick and Ryan Anderson trade?

While I like the trade, we have no room for Ryan Anderson. Orlando or a third team would have to take Diaw and DJ White off of our hands for the trade to make any sense.
JJ's contract decreases over time. It's not a terrible contract for what he brings to the table.

Re: SJax trade idea
cb, JJ made 7.25 mil this year (compared to Jack's 8.45), so no thanks on that
I'd rather having expirings and a pick or two. I know those late first picks aren't valuable in most cases, but I'd rather have them than not.

Re: SJax trade idea
Redick can be treated like an expiring contract because the last year of his deal is unguaranteed. True, he made $7.5M this season, but his contract was frontloaded when the Bulls tried to pry him away from the Magic. The money in his deal goes down every year. Next year, he'll make $6.5M and in the last year, if it's picked up, he'll make $6M. So it's a very friendly contract.
I'd be willing to offer picks or take on bad contracts too.

Actually, I think Diaw would get the minutes at SF that SJax had. Plus, he's in the last year of his deal to Diaw is actually pretty valuable.
As for Anderson, he plays really well with the time he gets. Considering he doesn't start you should look at his production. He can help a team in need of shooting and rebounding. He even blocks a decent amount of shots.

Diop's contract is very bad. Carroll's is bad, but we could absorb it in a deal for SJax.
What about this:
Jameer Nelson ($7.3M) / JJ Redick ($6.5M) / Ryan Anderson ($2.2M) / 2011 2nd Rounder / Cash - $16M total
for
Stephen Jackson ($9.2M) / Shaun Livingston ($3.5M) / Matt Carroll ($3.9M) - $17.6M

JJ Redick and Matt Carroll on the same team? Be still, my heart!

Re: SJax trade idea
I thought of all fan bases that the Dukie lovers in Carolina would also support the acquisition of Redick to the Bobcats... but then again... it could be 50/50 with the amount of Tar Heel fans too.
Any thoughts to the idea that Redick could be a crowd attendance boost factor?

I'm confused at the reactions here. Both Redick and Anderson are effectively 1-year rentals, we can make whatever decision we want to regarding their pay and worth to the squad after seeing them play for a season. Redick likely is what he is, but Anderson is 22 and had a very impressive season mostly coming off the bench for Orlando. I don't think it would make us better next season, but frankly who cares about that at this point?
Isn't this exactly what we should want for Jackson? A young prospect and some cap relief?

Didn't work when we drafted Felton and May - that was was straight off a NCAA title. Can't see that being any different with Redick.

Re: SJax trade idea
right now i only want to trade jax in the next year if one of two things happens
1) he asks to be traded
2) we are definitely out of playoffs at the trade deadline and can find a deal similar to the wallace deal.
other than that, i have no desire to move jax right now, especially after reading about his amazing body transformation and after hearing silas gush about how fantastic jax has been this offseason as the team leader.

I think you have to take a lot of that with a gain of salt. Coach talk can get fans excited no doubt, but what great body transformation can you expect from a 33 year old coming off injury without the use of steroids?
Also, I wouldn't rule out him asking to be traded. I think when you traded Wallace it really showed him the direction the team is going... as in "looking to the future". He just doesn't seem like the kind of guy who is willing to give up chasing the championship to help mentor and carry youngin's on his back. I dunno...

Appreciate your take.
What would your ideal offer be in a trade with the Magic?

Re: SJax trade idea
Dwight Howard?
For real I don't know, it's not clear to me how much value Jackson has around the league. He's old, has a pretty bad rep, and gets paid a lot for two more seasons. On the other hand, he's been around the block, has a ring, and certainly made our team a lot better. I think probably the Redick/Anderson pairing is the best that could be arranged with Orlando, unless we somehow could squeeze out picks too.
Personally I never take seriously any "HE LOOKS AWESOME IN CAMP!" stories... they fit into the same category as the "no for real, this time we're really going to run!" claim from every season of the franchise's existence. Still, as usual Fats is right. Since we don't own our (very likely) lottery pick, there's no real reason not to wait until the trade deadline to get something back for him... some title hopeful might overpay, and at least it won't be AS horrible to watch our team struggle the rest of the season. I always forget we traded that first away...
