^I like the idea of re-signing Reggie and trading Amir. I like Dorsey too, but without Amir we could use a good vet like Reggie in the lockerroom, keeping people honest.

Bayless/Knight(#5)/[Calderon]
DeRozan/Barbosa
J.Johnson/Pietrus/Kleiza
Davis/Evans/Dorsey
Bargnani/Biyombo(#13)/Alabi

I think we might trade Amir to Denver for Wilson Chandler in a S&T, if DEN insists on it, of course.

I would do that trade in a heart beat.
Firms up SF & SG gives us defense because Chandler is versatile can play both SF and SG but likely stat at SF.
If we get Jonas then have strong front court

SF Chandler/JJ/Klieza
C Jonas/Bargs/Alabi
PF Davis/Bargs/Dorsey/Klieza
SG DD/Barbosa/Chandler
PG Bayless/Jose

^^ perhaps the Nuggets would prefer Bargs, in which case maybe we could do Bargs for s&t W.Chandler+Birdman. Or maybe they'd do Bargs+#5 for Birdman+Gallinari. In the second one, the net result is us freeing up 3.5 million in capspace (because of the draft pick being moved), which gives us a total of about 11 million in potential capspace (depending on our other signings), which allows us to really make a serious offer for DeAndre Jordan.

DeAndre/Birdman/Alabi
Ed/Amir/Dorsey?
Gallo/J.Johnson/Kleiza
DeMar/Barbosa
Bayless/Jose

We get almost all of our go-to scoring at the 1/2/3, with three developing young players that already solid scorers that get to the FT line at a great rate, and have a good balance of slashing/3pt shooting. And we'd have an athletic froncourt that scores very efficiently (DeAndre 64.8 TS%, Birdman 63.6 TS%) and really protects the basket (#8 and #12 in per-minute shotblocking in the league). Youth at every position (but still experienced, not raw projects), and great size/length at every position.

If we draft a PG, would any team trade a 2011 or 2012 mid-range 1st round draft pick for Bayless? From a developmental view point, there's no point in having both Bayless (a RFA next year) and let's say Kemba.

actually, there is a point, because there's no guarantees that either Knight or Kemba will be better PG prospects than Bayless. Trading Jose is a much better proposition, because then both can get a legitimate opportunity at proving their worth as a longterm starter for us (in fact, if Barbosa opts out as well, you might have a situation where both can actually play about 30mpg for us longterm and share the court in small stretches--there would be a total of 48 mins at PG, and about 12mpg behind DeMar at SG... this is something I would like to see if we draft Knight, who has great length and should be able to play either position, since he's about as long as OJ Mayo).

That's enticing from our point of view but why does Detroit risk starting that front court?

Any good trade ideas for McGee? He is a young defensive monster that would be awesome beside Bargs.

That being said... It looks like Kanter might want to play with his buddy John Wall.

Could we possibly do trade for 5 + 1st (Top-1-6) protected in 2014 -> 6th + McGee with the Wiz ???

You also think Denver would do Amir for W.Chandler?

McGee
Bargs
Chandler
DD
Flynn or Jose (more likely Flynn at this point)

Chandler and McGee are pretty solid at D
Anyone is better than Jose on D...

Either way... we should still have the same output on O but much better defensively.

How about:

To Lakers: Jose Calderon
-Lakers get a good PG with perimeter shooting
-Pairs well with Gasol
-Allows Lakers to give the SF-spot exclusively to Artest and Odom

To Raptors: Matt Barnes + Luke Walton + Devin Ebanks

-Colangelo gets "his guys" in Barnes (almost signed with TO last year) and Ebanks (well-scouted by BC)
-Takes on a nasty contracts in Luke Walton to make up for Calderon's large salary
-Saves a small amount of money

Bayless/Knight
DeRozan/Barbosa
J.Johnson/Barnes/Ebanks/Kleiza/Walton
Davis/A.Johnson
Bargnani/Dorsey/Alabi

Why would any of these teams do this? Wiz have Wall and we have Derozan; I rather have Mcgee if we are trading with the Wiz. Hibbert is practically untouchable for the Pacers; no one trades a true C; esp for a fake C in Bargnani.

Wow,

Okay, first of all, you want to trade the 5th pick this year for... Nick Young and Yi? Do you even like the Raptors? Why would we do this? Also, Washington is pretty set at PG, they don't need Calderon nor the approx. $20 million he's currently still owed.

Second, you have Nick Young, who, might I remind you, you just traded the 5th pick for, playing out of position at SF.

Third, your deal with Indiana... why would the Pacers do this? They're not really desperate for scoring since they have Granger, Collison, and an emerging Paul George. Are they really going to take on Bargnani's contract just to add another ball-dominant scorer who won't add much on the defensive end? They're also giving up a legit post option in Hibbert.

In addition, you're trading Barbosa, who, last I checked, was considering opting out of his contract to play in Brazil next season. Also, Sonny Weems is a free agent. You can't trade a player who isn't on contract.

So in summation: you traded away the only bright side we have from an abysmal 2010-11 season in our pick, and the main piece you're acquiring for that pick is going to play out of position. Adding to that, you're trading our current primary scoring option, along with two contracts you can't actually trade, to another team that doesn't have much need for the player they'd be acquiring.

Here's the thing about trades: both teams need to benefit from them.

To TOR: Andre Miller* + Marvin Williams + Zaza Pachulia
To ATL: Jose Calderon + Andrea Bargnani + Linas Klezia
To POR: Kirk Hinrich

* MIller unguaranteed before June 30th, deal would have to happen before that time. He would be waived giving instant cap space.

we clear cap space to get a defensive C and grab Williams who will put up better numbers in our system. Im assuming we draft Knight/Walker. Save 10 + million in cap space.

ATL changes it up and sees if this would work.

POR gets an upgrade at PG and Miller can return once waived (those wink wink kinda deals)

Knight / Bayless
Derozan / Barbosa
Williams / Johnson
Davis / Amir
Jordan (FA) / Pachulia

* Jordan, Oden, Dalembert would be the realistic options available IMO. Chandler/Gasol/Nene arent really IMO because of their teams direction. Jordan will be hard to get butits possible with a hard cap.

^I'd do it (even though I think we're keeping Bargnani this offseason), but would Atlanta do it? Take on a lot of salary, and Kleiza and (to a lesser extent) Calderon have very low value.

I got a respons from a laker fan, he said he'd do:

To Lakers: JOSE CALDERON

To Raptors: STEVE BLAKE + LUKE WALTON + DEVIN EBANKS + FUTURE 1ST

Not great value, but would you (anyone) do it?

send Steve Blake somewhere else (Milwaukee, Golden State, etc) teams in need of a backup shooting PG and give us an expiring and id do it.

^How about Fisher in place of Blake (and hope we can settle a buyout?) They seemed OK with that (even saying they'd send money to help with buyout).

JOSE CALDERON

for

FISHER (waived) + WALTON + EBANKS + FUTURE 1ST + CASH

depends on the buyout. How much we save on it. Its better than Blake though thats for sure.
