Heat's Chris Bosh admits he 'couldn't help' crying

"I haven't experienced that pain in a very long time,'' Bosh said after his season exit interview at AmericanAirlines Arena on Tuesday afternoon. "Basketball hasn't given me that for a while. To be so close and to work so hard and get to that point, just to come up short, it kind of just got to me.

"I gave it everything I had. Sometimes when you give it everything you have emotionally — I'm not an emotional guy — it just took over. I really just couldn't help it, but I got it out of me and I feel a lot better for it, and I can move on.''

"I thought we would just come on the court and it was going to happen like that,'' Bosh said of going from being "the man" in Toronto to third wheel in Miami.

"Everybody kept asking me, 'How is your role going to change and what's going to happen?' I said, 'Nothing's going to happen, I'm just going to go out there and it's going to be good.'

''I didn't really anticipate struggling, but the struggles taught me something. I know not to get too ahead of myself for a situation, just read and react, and try to get better.''

"It's encouraging and it hurts at the same time to know in our first year together we were so close,'' Bosh said. "We don't have to assume anything. We know what's going to happen. The situation will be even more intense, but it's not our first time around the corner.

"I know I can get better and that's a huge part of this game, especially competing for a championship. I didn't know that before. It's the one thing this run really taught me.''

And next year, perhaps those tears will be happy ones.

BOSH is/was my X factor, our most consistent scorer, don't think he got enough credit/respect from the staff

Yea I like the way Bosh carries himself, seems like a real good player to have in the locker room. Didn't see much of him in Toronto but he became one of my fav. guys in the league this year. He has a unique way of approaching the game, and shows honesty where most players wont. Hopefully he continues to work on his game this summer and will get some more touches next season.

I can understand ragging on him about crying against Chicago in the regular season but theres not wrong with crying after a finals game, some people are just insecure.

Bosh seems like a level-headed guy with a very good heart, he's definitely one of the few NBA players I enjoy listening to and learning about. If he cried, so what? You mean to tell me that he should be embarrassed because a bunch of people who haven't the slightest clue as to what he felt, think it's gay?

C'mon son.

Agreed. Absolutely nothing wrong with crying in that situation. It's good to see he cares.

Out of the Big 3 I'm expecting Bosh to come back the most improved. He was urging the guys on during that one huddle in the 4th quarter, and you could tell the loss really devastated him (Not saying other guys weren't hurt).

Hopefully he doesn't forget the pain of this loss, and works on getting stronger and becoming a better overall player. I want him to return like Gasol did in 09.

We have to get him more touches in his comfort zone next season.

Bosh played very hard in Game 6 and I believe the Heat will be at it's best next year if they develop an offense that runs through him (though not necessarily using him as the #1 options, but perhaps #2 on nights when it's there). He is invested in this team and I believe he will work hard to improve and find his spot which is a good sign. He will be a big part of our success when the Heat achieve it.

Seeing Bosh collapse in the locker room hallway was one of the most moving, heartbreaking scenes I've ever seen in sports. Everything he does continues to reinforce my belief that he is of the highest caliber of character. It's only been one year and he's already one of my favorite people to ever put on a Heat uniform.

I'm not going to play Tuesday afternoon quarter back, but getting Bosh more touches (as someone said) is exactly the little adjustments that this team needs, Of course, that would also mean speeding the offense up. This is why I think that we have not realize the full potential of this team, yet we are so enamored with signing a new player(I know we need a center), but I am not convinced we would know what to do with a better Center.

I think it's funny when Bosh doesn't have it going, they give him the ball (most of the time). But when he does have it going, they didn't give him the ball.

If he stays they need to utilize him, not take turns.

I hope Riley makes some game plans for all of them, and Bosh bulks up. Need a strong front court. Can't have a team get so many damn offensive rebounds like that.

What sucks though is that Bosh would be out in the perimeter, and can't get his own rebound, or no one even there. He should be in the post way more. I know the zone called for the perimeter but every rebound was vital. Then again Heat had no real Center...

Anyway, Bosh looked like he was the only one who cared. I felt bad for the guy. He was left a lot of the times, made fun of, called soft, but he did care about this series and winning. Brought his A game in Game 6 too.

I just want him to bulk up, people would man handle him too much. Better post game too.

This is yet another one of those little adjustments I was talking about, this is the "in house" stuff that can be done.

**** all those that want to trade Bosh, guy has heart. On top of that he is an intellectual which is something seldom seen on most NBA teams.

Just want to add...

This was the first 'true' playoff experience that Bosh has had. In 7 previous seasons he made the playoff's a total of 2 times and never got out of the first round.

He played in 11 playoff games his first 7 seasons in the league, and got 21 more games under his belt with us.

Great learning experience for him going forward.

I preface this with saying I could absolutely not stand the Heat this year, but after watching these playoffs I have gained a TON of respect for Bosh and Chalmers. Nero (Lebron and Wade to a degree) were fiddling while Rome was burning, these guys seemed to have the most fight in them. I really hope for Bosh's sake he wins a ring at some point, for all the fun people had picking on him he's a high character guy who is hard to hate.

^^He bulked up in Toronto for last year. By mid-season he shrunk back to his original size and still got injured. I think with Bron and Wade drawing enough attention, his need to bulk up becomes less of an issue. He missed 4-5 games, which is great. If Bosh is paired up with a true C that doesn't clog up his mid-range game, the Heat will be serious.

I think he was great during the finals. He rarely missed open looks and played with passion.
