I have a feeling Mark Jackson put a stop to this.

Warriors GM: ‘We are not shopping Ellis’

• On reports that the team is in talks to trade Monta Ellis:

“We are not shopping Monta Ellis. It is business as usual here. I think you have to look at what just happened in the Finals — it seemed like Dallas played pretty small guards throughout that series with Miami and did a pretty good job of it. Our problem is not the small backcourt [of Ellis and Stephen Curry]. Our problem is defense.” http://nba-point-forward.si.com/2011/06 ... &eref=sihp

Either that or they couldn't get a good enough offer for Ellis...
My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.

Hell.....if they got Ellis why would they settle for Iggy? GSw would have little interest in Hinrich or Zaza. Who trades their ace for a couple of middle aged backups?

I totally agree, but you gotta determine what GS needs...they have Curry, Lee and Wright. My thought as to what they would want in return in order:

Joe
Al
Josh

Moving Joe opens up some cash....moving Al is a wash if it is considered an even trade, and Josh does not fill a need for them.
So I don't see a deal unless we move a captain, all-star or not. I totally agree with you.

Joe is a lot older than Ellis and about $8 mill more money per year. No chance GSW pays that for a wing. Ellis+Curry+ Wright cost what Joe costs and they averaged 58 ppg as a trio.

GSW might have wanted Josh a year ago, but now have Lee on a big contract.

Warrior fan, just curious. Was reading your thread and wondering if you would consider this as a baseline deal:

JJ + Smoove for Ellis + Lee + Bell (expiring).

http://basketball.realgm.com/tradecheck ... de/5901982

Gives you a better and more well rounded offensive PF to go along with Horoford and helps you unload JJs nasty contract. Saves you some money (don't know how much that would help your cap situation).

Won't be offended if you're not interested and not sure if this is something the Warriors should do. I know that the Warriors won't be taking Marvin off your hands, especially since we have a nice player at
the SF already in Wright. Would definitely shake things up for both teams.

Warriors might even kick in 2M towards a Bell buyout (owed 4 M) since I get the impression that Lacob is willing to spend money when necessary. The good thing about any Warrior/Hawk deal is that the players traded get moved out of the conference.

If we are moving one of Josh Smith or Horford we need a center back. David Lee is a PF. and if we are trading for Ellis we would want to pair him with JJ, so this trade proposal is a no.
