Kemba, Singleton, or Trade #12 up to #9 for Jimmer

Post#1 » by finnegan » Thu Jun 16, 2011 4:48 am

I don't think Jimmer will be on the board at #12. He will be gone at #7 (Sacramento) or #10 (Milwaukee). In fact, I think that it is more Kemba will be available at #12 than Jimmer.

I was extreeeeemely impressed with Kemba's maturity on his interview with KFAN today. Clearly Jimmer is better than everyone thought (except a few Jazz forum members :D ), but I think the Jazz should stay at #12 and take Kemba Walker or Chris Singleton.

After seeing the media circus today and listening to Fredette talk, the Jazz really need to pass on him. The risk of him creating team chemistry problems is very high.

Sloan was always careful to try to keep media attention off rookies. Rookies getting too much attention causes problems with the vets.

Just pass on Fredette. He's just not worth the headaches.

Kanter, Biyombo, Marshon Brooks, Vesely (if he comes now), Knight and Burks all better picks for the Jazz.

Good luck KOC. The fans are going to give you heat when you pass on Fredette.

No offense but is there a none of the above option I'm missing? Jimmer and kemba are cool and all but even in this draft, I want something more than a solid bench player at #12 which is what they are. Singleton at #12? not interested either, mabey if we got a later first rounder and he was the bpa.

I really want Jordan Hamilton at #12 because I think he has the chance to be a legitimate 20+ ppg scorer which is what we need. Marshon Brooks is also a nice option if for what ever reason, Hamilton isn't there.

So Knight/Hamilton for the draft or if we trade down with Washington and get #6 and #18 for #3 in addition to keeping our #12. Knight/Hamilton/Brooks would be a perfect draft imo. I would **** in my pants in excitement.

Hopefully Jimmer does go top 10. That would mean someone else is slipping. Burks at 12 would be a dream. Burks is gonna be a baller.

I love Singleton and I love the possibility of Biyombo, Val or Leonard falling to us. Also, I can't believe I'm saying this but....I would probably no longer shoot myself in the face if we took Jimmer. He is slowly winning me over :O

Apparently, Marshon Brooks ( I think thats who it was) totally dominated Burks in a workout back East.

Again the Jimmer love is out of control. First no one from the media saw the workout and of course a player is going to say they felt they had a good workout. Teams aren't going to come out and say "Yeah Jimmer and Kemba didn't do well today" when it is a closed workout. No one outside of the Jazz saw this workout.

The media attention this workout got is ridiculous and could not create a good atmosphere for the Jazz if he was on their team. They need to pass and it is a dumb idea to think the Jazz would trade from #12 to #9 when they have the #3 pick.

I'm with erudite23 here, I wouldn't want to blow up the ESA if they took Jimmer at 12, but I would much rather have Singleton.
Kanter and Singleton would be a great day.

If the Jazz don't select some sort of defensive specialist or a guy who will commit to defense at the next level, I may become a nuggets fan. I would love to draft a shooter or a big man as well, but defense is something the Jazz lacked all over the place last year; And I think that solid defense is the foundation to building a better offense.

I'm still not sure on The Jimmer like retiredcoach, but if the Jazz could move down from #3 to #6 and get #18 at the same time, I like their odds at getting a couple decent players who could have long careers like Leonard, Singleton, Jimmer, Brooks. However, having 3 rookies next year scares me too. Do we really want to see a 16 win Jazz next year if the 2012 prize is Davis or Barnes? Me thinks this would be the year to do it.

The Jazz organization needs a little excitement and Jimmer provides that and yes the Jazz, just for people draw, have to pick him. If it looks like Jimmer is going #7 to Kings or #10 to Milw then the Jazz should trade up their #12 pick to get the Jimmer (12th pick and rights to Miles should be enough).

What makes you think the Jazz have an interest or "excitement" problem?

Because they had a losing season last year and no real marketable superstar.

And yet they had one of the best averages for attendance, 2nd in T.V. ratings, and they are one of 10 teams that have more than 10,000 season ticket holders.

You really think Jazz fans aren't already excited about Favors, Hayward, and the lottery picks this year and next? I haven't spoken to a single Jazz fan that isn't excited about things again. Sure it was rough mid-year, but everyone I have spoken to is on board with the youth of our team and where we are headed.

Jazz have had rough seasons before, but have filled the Arena anyway.

I think Favors and Hayward are perfectly marketable along with the selections this year. Jazz are rebuilding. Something they aren't used to. I think Jazz fans realize it will take time and are excited about the assets we have. At least all Jazz fans I have spoken to are.

Picking Jimmer would be a pure marketing move, but that would all fall apart as soon as the season starts. Maybe im just a BYU hater, but i don't think he'll be good enough to warrant getting picked over some of the other guys available at #12

At #12, here's my list:

1 - Bitchsmack Bimbo
2 - Marshon Brooks
3 - Alek Burks
4 - Hamilton

With how Jimmer is performing in workouts, I am not so sure it would be a pure marketing move especially if they pick Kanter.

I'd love to get Burks at 12. Sounds like he's slipping and I think he'd be awesome for us.
