Official Raptors 2011 NBA Draft Thread Part 10

Post#1 » by Rhettmatic » Thu Jun 16, 2011 7:37 pm

The draft is a week away. It's on TSN2. Will this be our final draft thread?

Here are the other threads:

viewtopic.php?f=32&t=1056803
viewtopic.php?f=32&t=1087333
viewtopic.php?f=32&t=1093590

viewtopic.php?f=32&t=1106301
viewtopic.php?f=32&t=1110507
viewtopic.php?f=32&t=1113961

And the rules:

All thoughts on 2011 draft prospects and potential Raptors picks can go in this thread. After the draft lottery, it'll also be home to all mock-draft discussion and other fun.

Did Kyrie Irving have a sick crossover? Post it here. Did Jan Vesely drop 27 points on Crvena zvezda? Discuss it here. Are you having panic attacks because the Raptors just hired Donatas Motiejunas's father as their head scout? Seek medical help here.

We've got a few links here to NBA draft websites but please feel free to post more or PM a mod if you want more added.

Enjoy!

fall to 5 Donatas
2019 Eastern Conference All Stars

Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

If anyone of Irving/Williams/Knight/Kanter drops out of the top 4, draft them. If they're gone, take Kemba.

Or Val. I'd be happy with either if those 4 are gone.

fixed :)

honestly if they are all gone i'd seriously try and trade out and get a 2012 1st from some team. i.e. Cleveland , get their 1st by selling them on the idea of 3 1sts to accelerate the rebuild to beat lebron to win a championship

Copying my Kanter vs Valanciunas stance from the other thread

Peter Griffin wrote:A boat is a boat, but the mystery box could be anything! It could even be a boat, you know how we always wanted one of those!"

Peter Griffin wrote:Enes Kanter is Enes Kanter, but Jonas Valanciunas could be anything! It could even be an Enes Kanter, you know how we always wanted one of those!"

It seems to me Valanciunas is having a lot of projections assumed for him. That he'll bulk up, that he'll learn to play in the post and become an NBA scorer, that he'll get an NBA shot. Well Valanciunas with bulk, post ability and an outside shot sounds a lot like Kanter to me. So why don't we take the guy who plays like Marc Gasol now instead of the guy who could be like Marc Gasol if he takes a rare massive leap in physical form and skill.

Looks like Knight will definitely be Utah's pick after today's workout. As we get closer to the draft, it's looking more and more like Irving, Williams, Knight and Kanter will all be off the board by the time we pick. All our options at 5 look like projects and/or players with low ceilings.
