From Portland, Oregon, but my parents are from SoCal. Been following the Lakers since I started watching NBA basketball, as that was the team always on at my house.

Jase, from West Michigan. Became a Lakers fan because of -of all players- A.C. Green. I've never been a Pistons fan; any idiot in Michigan could root for them because they're the hometown team. That, and I always thought Zeke was one of the biggest d-bags in pro sports.

Anyway, grew on players like Vlade Divac, Cedric Ceballos, Eddie Jones, Elden Campbell, and Nick Van Exel.

Fan from Boston here. Saw clips of Kobe when I was about 8-9 years old during his rookie season and that was it for me. Love at first sight!

Okay, you're from the one city where I don't know why anyone would be a Lakers fan.

Honestly, I was never a fan of anything from Boston. Growing up I loved the Mariners and Griffey. I've followed the 49ers since the 1994 SB, and the Lakers thing started around 96/97. I was definitely an impressionable youth, but at least during those years I didn't go right for the Bulls, Cowboys, etc.

I live in North Carolina and I've been a Laker fan ever since I was small. I enjoyed watching Shaq and Kobe dominate the league in my youth and I made it a personal goal to support the Lakers for the remainder of my life. I still remember when the Bobcats were created, everyone was saying that the Bobcats would win an instant title because big name talent would flock to play for MJ. lol and look how that's gone for them so far. I've seen may Lakers "fans" pile and hop off the bandwagon but I've remained tide and true.

been a laker fan for 24 years and counting now in mississauga (greater toronto). looking forward to seeing the purple and gold surpass those guys in overall banners soon!

LOL Glad to see there are others alike. Who wouldn't appreciate and love one the most beautiful and inspirational franchise in sports history. Growing up and being a KID I probably chose to like the lakers because they were the best team. THey had so much history surrounding them it was incredible. Knicks were wack and I never like them. I wouldn't be surprised if I was a Knicks fan today if they were dominant when I was a kid. I guess I initially started off as a bandwagoner, but cmon who isn't at first. Thats why I hate that term. I stuck to my team and as the Lakers and Kobe battled post-Shaq era it was tough seeing them repeatedly lose. However it was all worth it in the end and the Laker franchise regained their throne with back to back championships. Lakers for Life. :D :D :D

If you're past the mid 40's then yeah you definitely got me, this is a nice thread. But since I live here in LA I thought I'd check out the visitors.

Tell me about it  .....I live in Romania and had to wake up at 5 am(home games) and often skip the first class at school(Had classes at 7 AM,sometimes, when the games went to OT I had to skip the 2nd class at 8 too)
When we played on the road on the east coast the games started at 1-3 AM....that's better :D

Now I'm on my way to college,no early classes for me so I can watch all the games I want
