If the Cav's do indeed take Kanter with the #1 pick, every team in the NBA is going to be throwing offers at Minnesota for the #2 pick. Considering the ridiculous offer that Cleveland made for #2, we may not be able to even come close. However; I hope that the Jazz FO is in constant communication with the Wolves FO, and trying to position themselves before the onslaught of offers that Minny will likely receive.
The complicating factor is that Minny doesn't really want the pick that bad, because they already have Rubio and Beasley.

Re: Mad scramble for #2 Pick -- X-Factor for Jazz
I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the Jazz move into the top 2, especially if Irving falls past 1.
I would guess the Jazz would be willing to put together any combination of 2 picks from this and next to move up, with the highest offer being the #3 this year and the GSW pick.
The only thing the Jazz wouldn't do is give up our own pick unprotected next year, but other than that I'm willing to bet any of those picks, with the addition of Harris or Millsap are probably on the table.

It's hard to see the Jazz willing to give up enough to land that pick. I just think there are more desperate teams out there willing to do something insane, especially if minny uses its leverage to start a bidding war. I dont know what I would do to nab irving... if you were KOC what would you be willing to give up? or would you just take williams at 3 and not give up anything?

THey cant give away their 1st rounder next year because Minny already owns it right? or can they just give it to them if its in the lottery and if it isnt it goes to minny?

Im pretty sure the Jazz are not looking to trade assets to move up one slot in a draft with no homerun prospects.
The Jazz will get a good player at #3. And if KOC screws up #3, he'd probably could screw up #2, also.

If the Cavs take anyone but Irving #1, I think it would be Derrick Williams, not Kanter. They would probably then plan on drafting either Knight or Walker at #4.
I still think that the Cavs will pick Irving #1.
I also think it is unlikely that Minnesota would choose Rubio as their PG over Irving. If Irving is available to them at #2 I can see them dealing Rubio away.
It would take a miracle move to get Irving imo. I would love it, but I don't see it happening.

Re: Mad scramble for #2 Pick -- X-Factor for Jazz
I think the Jazz would do almost anything to get Kyrie. He's been my dream all along and I would go nuts if we got him. I'd trade the 12, next year's GS pick, 3 and Millsap to get him. No team can match that offer, no matter how desperate they are, unless they are willing to throw in a young star like Monroe, Wall, Cousins, etc and that won't happen. In fact, the Jazz are quickly becoming the new Blazers with all the young prospect, assets and prime vets they are stockpiling. If a superstar shakes free any time soon, we will be in prime position to nab him.
I think there's still a strong chance that Irving will be available some way or another. Cleveland likes him a lot. I don't think they are head over heels for him.

Wow...why don't we just add the kitchen sink? That is WAY too much for the difference between Irving and what you might get at 3.

I don't know if Cleveland is willing to give up the pick regardless of what is offered.

They are taking Irving #1. End of discussion.

Word is, South Beach is ecstatic that they
won't be seeing Millsaps talents again this season...

Re: Mad scramble for #2 Pick -- X-Factor for Jazz
If Williams falls to the Jazz lap, then this would be the most physically talented team in Utah Jazz history. Of course they would lack experience and a superstar, but they would be extremely deep sort of like Portland and Oklahoma City only lacking the superstar player. Of course superstar players are hard to get, much less get them to come to Utah, but we would have the pieces to make a noise in this league for the next 3 years.
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

The Jazz hands are tied in offering any of their own first round picks since they still owe Minny one.
