And what would you realistically be looking for in a trade?

I like the guy but I'd trade him in a heart beat. He gets lucky with rebs if the ball goes his direction, but his stone hands were hard to watch in the playoffs when he would miss layups and offensive tips 5 times in a row.

I'd trade him for a 1st or 2nd rounder like Yami said. Or some other Center who has an offensive game as well as can get a block or 2 a game.

i wouldnt trade him for a 2nd rounder lol. joel isnt great but cmon.

How many 2nd round picks have we let go of in the last couple seasons alone? The chances of us getting any utility out of a 2nd rounder is probably 10%..... 5% if we are just talking bigs.

I'm in the minority, but i think his value to this team is pretty high. The defense is much better with him than without him and although he offers nothing on offense, this team gets enough offense from others (yes, even in the last few Finals games) that it isn't really a problem.

I'd put his value at around picks 18-20 of the first round. That may seem high, but the vast majority of guys taken in that area are just role players, just like Joel.

he's expensive, trade his ass for anything

What? The guy makes ~3.5 million/year. That's nothing.

You're either mistaken about how much he makes or have lost all perspective on player cost.

How much value does Joel have? Or how much Value do the HEAT feel he has? Thats two separate questions and two completely different answers. The Miami HEAT value Joel as the ultimate harder worker(We value that sometime to much around here) and D. Riley and Co. over look his inability to score or rebound among bigs. While around the league most can see him as a decent asset because of his 3 million a year contract and the fact that his young and athletic. I could see someone offering an expiring contract and PG for Joel, with the HEAT thinking about it and declining. Joel's like SPO, we all know they suck but Riley won't get rid of them for the hard work they put in to get to this point.

A starting center at his pay grade is damn hard to come buy.

Heat can bring in Varanado and get the same thing and more.

Yeah okay, the guy is an excellent defensive player. Only issue is he's not a starter so we have been using him wrong for a while now.

Great energy off the bench, he's a liability on the offensive end and defenses tend to sag off him and hardly ever regret it. He worked hard and earned his contract last season,

If we could get someone like Jeff Teague for him, that'd be splendid... I know, pipe dream.

Wouldn't trade Teague for him, but what about something like Marvin Williams for Miller and Anthony?

He got a 5 year contract, he can't catch, he can't even make a damn layup, he's not a prolific shotblocker, he's not a prolific rebounder. Nobody else would probably want him cause he's 28 and pretty much running around and tipping passes and guarding face up 4s is all he can do.

Heat has a younger more offensively capable guy in Jarvis Varnado. To keep a guy like Joel, who's
old, can't put the ball in the basket, can't catch, can't even do a pick and roll, makes him expensive.

He makes the Heat play 4 on 5 on offense, nobody respects him. He'll catch the ball near the basket and can't even convert.

he's not even really worth his contract just cause of the multitude of things he can't do.

i would gladly give him up for anything just so Heat can sign somebody who can do a whole more, who's bigger etc.

I don't know what the problem is. Even as a 15-20 mpg backup at $3,600,000 per year is a steal for a defensive specialist.

I think that most teams in the league would trade for his contract right now.

Conclusion, he is not going anywhere.

Contrary to popular belief of the Joel homers, he was complete TRASH during 95% (Not a scientific calculation) of the regular season.

Suddenly something clicked for him, and he had a pretty solid post-season. At times he even looked good. :o

I don't think any team would appreciate having him as a starter, but as a 2nd string C he's legit. That contract we gave him doesn't that bad any more (Quite reasonable in fact), especially if he can keep up his playoff level of play.

Joel grew on me. He needs to work on his hands. Just be able to layup the damn ball near the basket and I'll be happy.

Pretty much. I thought he played pretty well during the playoffs, he brought a lot of energy and did a good job defensively.

Someone mentioned Zaza for Joel Anthony. Is this something that seems like appropriate value?
