Gortat tweetet today that it's up to the front office, but he'll always be a part of Orange Army...
What do you think, guys?

Re: Gortat & Nash to Minnesota - huge rumor!
Very misleading thread title. There is no legitimate information anywhere that suggests Nash is getting traded to Minnesota. The author of that article mentions Nash in passing as if it's a pipe dream--which it is.
Regarding Gortat--He did tweet about Williams, so I assume someone in the organization has spoken with him about it. We'll see...

I'd do it... we need a new franchise player and as much as I like Gortat, he ain't it.

With our previously mentioned interest in Flynn, this could expanded to include Brooks and Flynn

Re: Gortat to Minnesota - huge rumor!
I've been thinking activity has been rather low lately, this should give 'er a nice spike.
It'd be sweet to get the #2, just from my first 5 seconds of thinking I'm not 100% sold, it's just taken so long to get a freakin true center. But yeah, it'd be tough to turn down a reasonable deal centered around that.

Re: Gortat to Minnesota - huge rumor!
Hell to the no.
I like Derrick Williams, but he is a tweener, also there is no guarantee he'll be a franchise player. With Gortat, we know what we are getting, a double-double producing center who plays defense. We'd be back to playing Lopez/Frye at center next to him at the 4, that's not getting it done. Lopez can be a decent back-up center, that is his ceiling (assuming he even recovers from his back injury) and as much as Frye improved his game, he isn't going to be considered in the top 10 centers anytime soon.
We would be back looking for a starting center all over again a year from now. I seriously hope this organization does not think it has a chance of landing Dwight Howard and is relying on that.
If we want a PF so badly, just trade our picks for Anthony Randolph, Beasley, or JJ Hickson. I'm sick of the knee-jerk reactions of this franchise trying to fix a position hole by creating another hole. What successful franchise trades their center for a tweener? SMH

To be fair, we need to judge Blanks on what he's done. Not on what has transpired over the last few years when he wasn't making decisions. So far, Blanks has:
-Signed Earl Barron
-Traded Clark/Richardson/Hedo for Gortat/Pietrus/Carter + 1st round draft pick
-Signed Dowdell to two 10 day contracts and eventually the rest of the season
-Traded Dragic + furture 1st to Houston for Aaron Brooks

Re: Gortat to Minnesota - huge rumor!
I'd trade Gortat, Nash, and the 13th for Beasley and No. 2. That way, the Suns can have two tweeners

Re: Gortat to Minnesota - huge rumor!
It's going to be difficult for me. I mean, on paper, I'll do it. Gortat for #2 (Irving or Williams, either case) can net us a potential franchise player. On the other hand, we're stuck with Robin Lopez as our starting center. If we have someone who can grab more than eight defensive boards a night, I'll do it in a heartbeat. However, given the situation, I'm not so sure. It can go either way (and I won't be mad at the management no matter how it turns out).
Phoenix Suns
San Francisco 49ers
UCLA Bruins

Re: Gortat to Minnesota - huge rumor!
We would still have Carter and Peaches or Brooks to use in trades to get a decent defensive center and or SG, we also still have the TPE for say Mayo as was previously mentioned ??? lots of possibilities....

Re: Gortat to Minnesota - huge rumor!
So the Suns finally got a legit center who was also a candidate for the most improved player since his arrival in Phoenix mid season and now all of sudden he's in trade rumors for some guy who hasn't proved a thing in the NBA. Why don't these mothercanuckers in the Suns front office just use VC's contract to get a PF. They are many teams out there that wants to save money so take advantage of his contract.

Re: Gortat to Minnesota - huge rumor!
Makes me hate the Brooks trade more and more, as we could have flipped a combination of Dragic, Suns first, Orlando first, VC, and Pietrus for any of these available PFs like Millsap, Hickson, A.Randolph, Beasley, etc.
I'd take Gortat + any of those guys over Lopez/Frye + Derrick Williams

Holy hell...we FINALLY get a C and they want to move him for a young, unproven tweener
Seriously if this doesn't look something like this...I'll scratch my head til it bleeds
Gortat
Childress
for
#2
Randolph
Flynn

I'm serious though, if we do this move I might murder Lance Blanks. Gortat is better then Tyson and reminds me of a Bill Lambieer guy.
