Bogut Rumor?

Post#1 » by Klomp » Fri Jun 17, 2011 5:42 pm

To start, we would like to make it perfectly clear that this trade rumor is highly unsubstantiated. However, we take it as our job to report any news we do see. Darren Wolfson is a local Minneapolis radio and television guy. He is affiliated with an ESPN radio affiliate, ESPN 1500 Twin Cities. According to his knowledge, the Timberwolves and Bucks have discussed a deal centered around Andrew Bogut with the two teams swapping draft picks. More players and assets would likely have to be involved to match NBA salary cap regulations.
According to Darren Wolfson from ESPN 1500 Twin Cities:
Sounds like one of MANY deals that has been discussed: 2 for Bogut & 10. No clue who initiated. Remember, one of many talked about. #Twolves

Good chance there would be other parts. AGAIN, one of many discussed. RT @mattdeedrick: @DarrenWolfson what else would #wolves give up?

Can't stress enough based on replies: Teams are talking moves constantly. The talks w/ Milwaukee = one of many possible outcomes next week.

I can't agree to this one fast enough. HOWEVER, I sense that if this conversation is taking place it involves the Wolves eating one of Milwaukee's bad contracts. I'm assuming Pek is in the deal with perhaps Webster and I could actually see Ridnour having some value to them. The issue is finding more bodies to eat a contract like Salmons or Gooden (gag).

Either way, I love Bogut despite the injuries and adding in a pick at 10 gives us a much better shot at Burks or Brooks.

I'm in.

I'd take Salmons if we have to; that guy ALWAYS plays insane as a starter his first year on a new team. I wouldn't mind Delfino either.

I still think this is more of a BOGUS rumor than a BOGUT one.

This would be awesome! As long as we don't end up with Gooden haha

I'd take Salmons too, but it will be difficult enough to match salaries and not blow up their roster limit.

Does Doogie have good sources?

What players would you guys have to throw in to make this work?

Maybe I'm completely off on the value of these pieces but a #2 for Bogut/#10 seems way too much in our favor. If the proposed deal was Johnson, Pek, #2 for Bogut, #10, would you still do it? I think Bogut for #2/filler is somewhat equal value, throwing in the #10 tilts it too much in my mind.

Agreed #2 for Bogut/#10 seems like too much. #2 for Bogut is fine with me. If we have to take on Salmons, Gooden, or Maggette to have the #10 included I say let them keep #10.

I like the idea. As far as #10 being included, I'd want it so we could grab a SG. As to what's fair, I have no problem with including #20. I'm hesitant to include Ridnour, but he wouldn't be a deal breaker (Flynn as Rubio's backup seems a little unlikely though). Don't see us adding Wes. I could see #2, Pek, Webster, Flynn, and #20 for #10, Bogut, and someone like Dooling(no use for him, but not a terrible contract). That's if they like Flynn as a backup or think they could move him for another pick. I wouldn't be thrilled with any of Salmons, Gooden, or Magette and that would be tough to swallow. If it was Gooden, I think you'd have to include Tolliver to make it balance financially and roster-wise.

Regardless the next six days are going to be fun.

Well I want to draft Williams but I can't complain about Bogut. His injury woes are a big concern but he is a great center when healthy.

Bogut's contract of

2011-12 $12,000,000
2012-13 $13,000,000
2013-14 $14,000,000

.. is not excessive for a very good big man that can play center. However, with his injury history, I think there is certainly risk involved.

Personally, I think #2 for Bogut + #10 is fair, particularly since whatever contracts MIN adds to match salary aren't really going to hinder MIL's trade value. Williams is a nice prize for them, because he may be able to get fans to return to Bradley Center and prevent the financial losses of recent years.

If 10 is included, Wolves would probably be taking on either Salmons, Maggette, or Gooden's contract.

This or a trade for Marc Gasol is my ideal trade scenario for the #2. Either of them would fit perfectly next to Love.
