I think you guys can make the best offer for Howard
Before the trade deadline next year, assuming you resign Nene (which looks likely):
Dwight Howard and Gilbert Arenas
for
Nene, Felton, Carmelo trade exception.
I think the magic would go for that, because as good as Howard is, 40 million dollars a year for 3 years is a lot for a player (Arenas obviously is worth basically nothing). And no other team would be able to just completely eat his contract. Plus, they get a top center so they don't have to completely restructure their team.
They would drop salary significantly, and would have a lineup good enough to make the playoffs in a weak eastern conference.
Because Lawson is so cheap for the next 2 years, and Galinari is cheap next year, you guys can eat arenas's contract without going too ridiculously over the cap.
Oh, and you'd probably be the best team in the league:
Lawson/Arenas
Afflalo/Arenas
Chadler/Galinari
Galinari/Harrington
Dwight/Mozgov/Andersen

Maybe not, but for that price, it's certainly worth a shot.
Not a realistic offer, though.

Why wouldn't Dwight stay in Denver? If he wants a championship that team would be ridiculously stacked. Who cares if it's a small market, if they're winning multiple championships, that's a national market.
And I think that deal is pretty fair. You'd be eating 2.5 years and 52 million of Arenas's contract. Let’s say Arenas is worth 10 million for that period. That’s 42 million you’re eating.
Let's say Howard signs for 6 and 125. You'd essentially be getting him for 6.5 and 176. That’s 27 million a year. If you were starting a team, how much would you be willing to pay for Howard? It can't be THAT much more.
And who could offer much better??
Worst comes to worst you do this:
Howard, Turkoglu, Arenas
for
Nene (signed to new deal this offseason), Carmelo expiring, Chandler (signed to new deal this offseason)

If we're talking about an extended Dwight Howard, I would be doing my best to keep Nene and have a Dwight-Nene frontcourt. I'd instead give up Lawson:
Dwight for Melo TE (Arena's TE doesn't fit btw).
Turkey, Bass for Lawson, Gallo, Mozgov, Knicks picks

If Howard would extend with Denver I would do either package mentioned in this thread. Though Howard seems to want to team up with another superstar in a bigger market, hindering any chance he would stay here.

IMO Howard is already seriously thinking to move out after the postseason cause of the available chips ORL can play with to make their team better even thou he is saying things like team needs to be shuffled and etc.
If there is any hope to Howard deal, we should leave everyone available except Nene, Gallo, AAA, Ty or Felton /Prefer Ty/.

There's no way we get Howard without including Nene. I'd say give them their pick of anyone outside of Ty, Afflalo and Gallo. I'm not sure any other team can put together an offer better than Nene/Felton/Chandler.
Of course it all depends on whether or not Howard would extend in Denver, which seems unlikely.

Re: I think you guys can make the best offer for Howard
Orlando Fan...but I moved to Denver
I have been saying recently I think that the Nuggs can make the 2nd best offer for Dwight. However, I really don't think Dwight would stay in Denver unless it was a trade that happened prior to the season starting and they had a run to the Finals in year 1.
I think OKC would be the ideal destination. A package of Dwight+Hedo+Nelson for Westrbook+Harden+Ibaka would do wonders for bother franchises. OKC pairs up the top scorer two years in a row with the best defensive player three years in a row. There would be no reason for him to not want to stay with Durant for the long run.
As for Denver, I would accept a base package of Afflalo+Chandler+Nene+Knicks picks for Dwight+Bass+Turkoglu. It is clearly asking a lot but would you guys honestly turn down a lineup of...
PG Lawson/Felton
SG JR Smith (re-signed)
SF Gallo/Turkoglu
PF Bass/Anderson/Harrington
C Howard/Mozgov
I know I would give anything to see that lineup in Orlando...it'd be a hell of a lot better than what we have had. The best part is, Lawson/Gallo/Howard can be your core for a loooong time if you can convince Dwight to stay with a big first year.

Re: I think you guys can make the best offer for Howard
^^^I actually think Denver can offer a better deal then OKC. For example:
3 separate trades:
Trade 1: Felton and Nene for Arenas
Trade 2: TPE, 2012 1st, 2013 2nd, 2014 1st for D12
Trade 3: Wilson Chandler (s&t) and Mozgov for Turkeypoo
The Magic get quality players, several draft picks, a boatload of cap space, an additional expiring in Felton, and the flexibility to make other moves.
I doubt if I would do it, but it is the best deal that the Magic would/could get imo.

I don't see the Nuggets taking on both Arenas and Hedo, but you are right they could offer the best deal out there as a package as long as the thunder are not going to give up everybody outside of Durant.

That is a VERY nice deal...but personally, I need Afflalo+Nene+Chandler in any deal.
As for the TPE...it is nice to get the immediate cap relief but it doesn't hold the same value it would have last summer because of the new CBA...when July 1st hits all TPE's will expire.

If as you propose all TPEs will expire in the new CBA, that means that there will be big changes in the cap, meaning that cap space will be at an even bigger premium, and making the ability to provide cap relief that much more expensive, and considering what some teams have paid for cap relief in the last few years, I would not discount that importance to a team.
As for including Afflalo, with Nene and Chandler, I don't know if the Nuggets would do that, but I am sure that will mean they take back less in bad contracts.

Agreed. I doubt I'd take both of Arenas' and Turkoglu's contracts for just Nene/Chandler/Felton. Adding in Afflalo definitely kills it.

So if you are the Nuggets GM and you are on the phone with Otis...
He says he has a deal in place with OKC to land Westbrook+Harden+Ibaka but he is more interested in the players on Denver. He says he wants a base package of Afflalo+Chandler+Nene+Knicks Picks, and you'd have to take back the contract of Hedo Turkoglu...otherwise Dwight is going to OKC...
You would say no?

^^^If Otis can get that out of OKC, the more power to him. I can see Westbrook, Ibaka and someone else, but I doubt if that someone else is Harden. Go on their board and propose that deal, I bet most of their fan base won't like it because they would have to include a lot more to get the salaries to match up.

As for the OKC deal...if you extend Westrbook, all you have to add is Nate Robinson and a couple fillers.
You didn't answer my question though...would you turn down the Denver/Orlando deal if you are the Denver GM?
It is pointless to go on other boards and propose trades...you are going to get mixed results with a big heaping of ignorant comments. I only proposed the deal on here that I did because the topic had already been started.
But the way I look at it, whether it would be to Denver or OKC...with the deals I proposed, if I were either team's GM, I would accept either in a heartbeat.
Orlando got to the Finals with role players like Courtney Lee, Michael Pietrus, Hedo Turkoglu, Rashard Lewis, and other guys that if you look at today...they are doing either noting at all of playing horribly.
If you have the opportunity to pair him with Durant in OKC or Gallo+Lawson in Denver...you are already worlds ahead of a team that made it to the Finals.
Not to mention you are in the West where the better teams are getting older...not better. Dallas is not likely to improve, LA in not likely to improve, San Antonio won't improve...the top spot is up for grabs.

What is your question, if the Magic want Nene, Afflalo, and Chandler for D12 do I make the trade? If that is the question, my answer is yes, I make that trade. It's when all of the other fillers and requests start to pile up when I start to second guess it.
But, it is kind of a pointless thread because he wouldn't want to extend to play in Denver.

Denver is also considerably warmer the New York.
