Draft T minus one week - predictions and opinions?

Post#1 » by Roger Murdock » Fri Jun 17, 2011 6:33 pm

Alright guys, a week from today we will know who the newest Cavaliers are. I thought we could start a new thread based on predictions we have for the night.

Here are a few questions I've got for you:

If you were drafting what would be your top 4 big board?

What do you think the Cavs top 4 big board is?

Do we stay at four and move up or down? If we move, who do we take?

Will any players currently on our roster be dealt on draft day? If so - for what?

Who do you want us to target in round 2?

GO!

My big board:
1. Irving
2. Williams
3. Valincinious
4. Kanter

Cavs BB:
1. Irving
2. Williams
3. Kanter
4. Val

I think we try and move up to two but fail. We take Jonas at 4.

I think Sessions gets traded, maybe packaged with 32 for a mid first rounder where we target somebody falling like Brooks, Jimmer, Burks, or Biyombo.

I'm not particular about our round two picks. If we stay put I would like to take a swingman like Lighty and a Euro to stash overseas to develop. I prefer using 2nd round picks on niche players who can fill a roll off the bench.

Mine:
Irving
Williams
Kanter
Val

Cavs:
Same

2nd
Jajuan Johnson (if available)
DeAndre Liggins
Scotty Hopson
Draft and Stash?

I wouldnt mind moving back into the 20's if we can nab Brooks or Klay Thompson if they are available as well.

My Big Board
1.Irving
2.Williams
3.Kanter
4.Knight

Cavs
1.Irving
2.Williams
3.Kanter
4.Val

I think we move up somehow to the #2 and take Williams.

I think sessions will be dealt to help us move up or just straight up for a pick.

In the 2nd I think We should target Rick Jackson, Benson, and Lighty

Hoping the Cavs take Irving with the first pick and trade for the #2 pick and select Derrick Williams.

It just makes too much sense for the Wolves and Cavs to get together. Minn wants vets and Cavs have assets. We just need a third team

Same for me and the Cavaliers:
Irving
Williams
Kanter
Big V

We draft Irving and I think Utah takes a PG and we draft Kanter....unless Toronto moves up to 3 then we get Big V.
I think Toronto and Utah will swap picks. It just makes too much sense not to being that Utah wants Knight and knows there's almost no risk that he's taken at #4.

I think the Cavs will stay at 1 and 4. But I could see them do something like Sessions/Erden to Houston for the 23rd pick/Thabeet. Cavs would probably go big at this pick making sure they get someone who might've been just out of reach. Thabeet hangs out on the bench for a season.
Houston gets a talented PG, a cheaper project big, and still has the 14 pick to work with.

I want us to take irving and kanter, unless we find a way to get the #2 of course

At the end of the day I don't see a good enough deal for the wolves so I see Minnesota taking and keeping who ever you guys leave us between Irving and Williams, hopefully Williams since we just got Rubio signed but I'd still love Irving

we draft WIlliams #1 and shock everyone
Minny Drafts Irving #2 and pick a point guard again
Utah Drafts Knight #3
we draft Kanter #4

and with the second rounder we draft Norris Cole out of CSU the local point guard with some game :D

There is a lockout for the whole season and we get two more high picks next year.

Unlikely but not too bad

Norris Cole would be a guy I would like in the second round, even if we took Irving. I also like Lighty and Parsons.

Ideally, I want to pick Irving at #1, Jonas at #6, and Singleton at #18. I doubt Singleton is there though so Markieff Morris, Tobias Harris, or Jordan Hamilton (I guess) would be decent options.

In the second round, I wouldn't be opposed to Mirotic, Harper, Butler, Jackson, or Johnson at #32 and #54 is a crap shoot. I don't want Lighty though - isn't really any better than Eyenga.

Lighty is a better offensive player for sure, but Eyenga is more athletic for sure....but he is definitely raw.
