KOTB entry: Atlanta and Wizards
not sure if I really like this as a Hawks fan, even though I feel that we would be a better team.
Hawks out Horford
in Blatche, McGee, and 2012 1st round draft pick top 5 protected.
Wiz out Blatche, McGee, and 2012 1st round draft pick top 5 protected.
in Horford
Wiz get there replacement center in draft with Kanter or Valanciunas which ever ones there when they pic at 6 and still have atlanta's pic this year at. they would then have a team that is both young and talented. Wall, Crawford, Young, Horford, Kanter
Atlanta gives up alot for a center but they get someone who can score the ball pretty good from the PF position in Blatche. and McGee and Smith should work well together on the defensive end. they also pick up another 1st to go with theres in 2012 to use to in attempt to land a star player at the trade deadline in 2012. maybe Marvin williams and two first round picks in 2012 and jeff Teague for chris paul.

I dunno how Wizards fans feel about the trade. They probably feel they're giving up a lot. Or maybe I'm just high on McGee.
And Hawks fans probably don't want to give up Horford. Still, they get a center in this trade, so that could work out for them.

I would like some feed back on this trade. it was hard for me to come up with a Hawks trade not involving Bargs, Pau or Bynum, Bogut, or Ellis and Beans. because really if we have to move one of Horford or Josh that is about all I want back.
it goes without saying that if we are acquiring Bargs it would be Marvin being traded not Horford or Josh!!

Take Blatche out of it and I think the Wiz would accept, but McGee and Blatch and a probable lotto...is a bit much. The Wiz would, I guess need to replace Blatche's salary with someone.
CENSORED... No comment.

Re: KOTB entry: Atlanta and Wizards
I'm not sure how I'd feel about this trade, given how Blatche and McGee are both total boneheads that makes Josh Smith look like Jason Kidd in terms of basketball IQ. That said, both are also really talented, especially McGee with his freakish athleticism.

Re: KOTB entry: Atlanta and Wizards
As a Wizards fan, it's intriguing, but I'd pass because I think they ultimately would be giving up too much. I'd be happy to give up Blatche. McGee has so much potential that I'd like to see him with the Wiz for at least another year. I'm not opposed to giving up a future pick, but I'd rather hang onto to it -- the team's going to need some rebuilding pieces. That said, Horford is terrific -- underrated maybe. Still, I think it's just too much for the Wiz to give up at this stage in their rebuilding process.
Good try, though.

Re: KOTB entry: Atlanta and Wizards
As a Wiz fan, take out the pick and I'd do it. We could plug Horford in at PF and take whichever of Kanter or Valanciunas drops to #6. Not sure if it's enough for Atlanta without the pick, though.

Re: KOTB entry: Atlanta and Wizards
If you're giving up Horford, you need the pick from WAS.
I think it's pretty fair for both sides.
WAS gets the better play, ATL gets a starting center, and a backup for Smith plus a pick that could anywhere from mid lotto to late teens but in a good draft year.
Yes for ATL

Re: KOTB entry: Atlanta and Wizards
ATL - Horford is by far the best player here. Mcgee has potential, Blatche probably has a negative value, and the pick is nice offcourse. the value is about right. but ATL is trying to contend, they'd be worse next year for losing Horford. Not sure they'd do it, but let's say yes for KOTB
WAS - Thy get Horford, but who plays C? maybe they intend to draft Biyombo at 6, maybe Kanter falls. not ideal solution, but Horford would bring a lot of things to Wizards, including cultural change, work ethics, professionalism... A reluctant yes.

CP3/ Kirk
JJ/ Kirk
Smoove
Blatche
McGee
nice back court and nice defensive front court. with Blatche scoring inside.

Blatche IS a bonehead. There's a reason the Wiz are looking to trade him.
McGee is all potential. He could still bust.
The pick is in a terrible year.
All in all, unless the Hawks are rebuilding, this is a whale of a gamble for them, because they would most definitely go backwards for a couple of years.
Wiz get the best player; they win the trade.

as far as being a bonehead..... coming to a winning situation tends to calm most people down..... and besides Blatche would be the 3rd or 4th option. he is a pretty good scorer. better than Horford. and McGee defense is better than Horford. so I see this as a win win for both teams.... and the 2012 draft will be one of the deepest drafts in a long time.
that is the Perry Jones sweepstakes. but I would be trying to move both picks for Chris Paul anyway.

The Hawks are a "contender"/win now team, why would they trade Horford (a great locker room guy) for 2 boneheads that are likely to never get it together due to their lack of maturity. A 2012 pick doesn't hold great value to the Hawks, unless Dwight and/or CP3 give them the heads up.

Blatche eFG% = .447
Horford eFG% = .558
McGee defensive PER = 17.7 (48 min)
Horford defensive PER = 17.7 (48 min)
Now, I think Blatche has more offensive talent than Horford but look at what Blatche's mental/emotional inadequacies cost him. And McGee certainly has more defensive gifts, yet opposing Centers perform as well against him as they do Horford.
Betting on those 2 growing up and/or sprouting a brain is risky.
Betting on those 2 while giving up Horford is a good way to end up in the lottery.
If both are so good - and considering John Wall - why does WASH stink?

because John Wall was a rookie and we have Joe Johnson.

Blatche is hot garbage. All the talent in the world, a 5 year old's understanding of basketball.

Re: KOTB entry: Atlanta and Wizards
Washington has so much talent, but I think they lack veteran leadership. Blatche is one of those guys, that would perform a lot better if he played with a core group of guys with some quality vets in that group.
The Hawks might be some what a perfect place for him. Not saying we have such great leadership, but we have quality veterans, who have tasted the playoffs and want to go further. They could really benefit from having his talents as well. He won't be the feature guy, but he will provide a low post option to go to. And since he won't be the featured guy, then some of those bad shots he take can be limited.
McGee and the pick, just make you wish this deal could really happen. Maybe you can turn the pick into Beal or Rivers and all of a sudden you are stupid loaded for the future. Teague, Beal/Rivers, Josh, Blatche, McGee?!?! wow!!

Re: KOTB entry: Atlanta and Wizards
As long as the pick is protected top 5 like it says it is then I guess I would have to pull the trigger. Horford is an all star and while we have high hopes for McGee,.. nothing is guaranteed. And Blatche has the talent, just not the character or mentality that Horford has. If Kanter somehow dropped to us at 6 like in Ford's latest mock, we'd be looking really good.
Kanter/Horford/Young/Crawford/Wall
I like that.

I would do this. Horford is great, blatche is a bum. I like Mcgee alot, but i think i hate blatche more, without the picks it would be no brainer, little hesitant with them in there.
