Please stop it! Dwight, Dirk, Baron, Nash etc are NOT coming
The odds of the Heat acquiring another superstar (like Dwight) via trade are way below 0.1%.
The most realistic option at C is Dalembert. There's no superstar C coming to "save" the Heat.
Even assuming the other team would agree, the Heat would need to trade one of the big 3. Even though many Heat fans seem eager to get rid of Bosh or even Lebron, these guys took less money to play TOGETHER. It would be a cold move by Riley to trade one of them - unless someone asks for a trade out of Miami.
And if he did that, you can be sure no major FA would come to Miami for the next few decades. Just look at how Chicago can't bring a major FA after Krause and Reinsdorf took a giant crap on Jordan, Pippen and Phil Jackson.
Dirk never was an option. The package was Lebron - Wade - Bosh. You get all 3, or none.
Dirk probably wouldn't have left Dallas anyway.
And just because Dirk won a title, doesn't mean he's a better player than Wade or Lebron, or easier to build around. It took years for the Mavs to get here. It took tens of millions of Cuban's money.
Dirk couldn't win without a team perfectly tailored to cover his weaknesses. He needed an elite playmaker, like Kidd, a couple of very good defensive wings that can also contribute some points (Marion & Stevenson), a very good bench (Terry, Haywood and, apparently, Barea can start for a bunch of teams in this league). But, most of all, Dirk couldn't win without Chandler covering his ass on defense in the paint and rebounding, and Dirk couldn't win without Carlisle, who's probably the 2nd best coach in the league right now (after Pop).
There's no all star PG coming to "save" the Heat
All championship teams had some role players on them. Chalmers is a role player. He can do good things, but, like all role players, he also makes mistakes. The more experience he gets, the less mistakes he'll make. Spoelstra should have just played him all year long and in the playoffs. Give him 30-35 min a game and let him play through his mistakes, otherwise, it's hard for him to learn. Kid has balls and heart, though, and he can become an excellent role player down the road.
What I'm saying is that you'd better get used to Chalmers.
Baron Davis is fat, lazy, a ballhog and a chucker. Not only would he be a bad fit on this team, but he has such a fat contract you'd have to trade one of the big 3 for his fat ass.
Nash is still playing better than the money he makes, so Sarver won't buy him out. As long as he has Nash, he can gut that roster, bring cheap players and still have a decent team to bring in the fans and make the cash.
As for CP3 and Deron, see above the part about Dwight. Not gonna happen.

I don't think anyone here actually believes any of the above will happen,or wants any of the above to happen.

I think I read last offseason that Pittman is working into getting into "Alonzo Mourning" shape. Maybe he's the next superstar?

Baron Davis is a prime candidate to be bought out. The Cavs will likely draft Kyrie Irving who is a PG. Why keep Davis then? It was rumored that they would buy him out in Feb. but it didn't happen.

Baron Davis gives a team more confidence and makes big shots. Like what he did with Golden State in 2007 when they beat the Mavs, I could feel it when he was playing with the Clippers, then I can see it when the Cavs beat the Heat. He wanted to lift their spirits and led the way.
But I don't think he's perfect for this team either. Heat need a fast athletic PG. Or maybe a fast athletic PG who's been in the league for a bit with some defensive skill (hard to find). They might just have to develop Mario or their draft pick if it's a PG. Might as well if there's a lockout.
If not, I guess a veteran. BUt the thing about PG's on this team, they don't even handle the ball. I think the Heat did make Bibby look worse than he did. Bibby was ballin' when he first came, it was the regular season and they let him handle the ball especially near the end. Then the ball was out of his hands and they expected him to shoot 3's. I think it really messed with his rhythm.
I don't care for other superstars though, just some damn good role players to give LBJ and Wade rest. It took a toll on them with Miller being injured and no reliable back up for LBJ. Same with UD being gone for so long. And then JJ who would take place of LBJ wasn't even in the Finals. (thanks Spo)

I'm not sure what the point is in announcing what you think is not going to happen. Strange things happen all the time and there are plausible scenarios for several big names to come here.
If Dwight Howard were to tell the Magic that he wants to go to Miami and will leave as a FA with them getting nothing if they don't accomodate him, they would be morons not to take a deal for one fo the Big 3 (especially if it were for Wade or LeBron)? They wouldn't be happy about it and maybe they would actually spite themselves and refuse such a deal, but it would be stupid beyond human comprehension. Wade or nothing? LeBron or nothing? Would they really refuse a true superstar just because it would mean Dwight moving within the division or within the state? I'm not saying that Dwight would make such a demand, but it wouldn't be crazy. He has made it known to them that they will have to significantly upgrade their roster for him to stay. So who is going to give them quality pieces for the $60 million plus contract of Gilbert Arenas. Or the $10 million + per year that they have to pay a 32 yr old declining Hedo Turkoglu? And even if the Magic don't agree to trade Dwight, the Heat could probably still create the cap space by shipping off one of the Big 3 to a team that is well below the cap. For example, Sacramento, which has only $27 million in contracts for next year. Hey Kings, do you want Chris Bosh and some cash for a 2nd round pick in 2016? The deal could work because the Kings are under the cap so the salaries don't have to match (much like Minnesota took on Beasley's contract last summer and much like we got LeBron and Bosh in trades without giving up any players or having to match salaries.) Similar deals could be done to free up the space needed to bring in Deron Williams or Chris Paul. After next season, a deal packaging Miller, Haslem, Anthony and a resigned Chalmers at $3.5 million could bring just about enough cap space for another max guy (assuming we don't otherwise clog up our salary structure with other big deals). I'm not saying that I want to get rid of any of the Big 3 (although Dwight would be tempting), but they are valuable assets.
If the Cavs take Irving, they absolutely could buy out Baron Davis. I doubt we'd want him, but he certainly could be available.
Greg Oden's agent is telling the Blazers he may not even try to come back until December or January. After having not played all this time, are they really going to pay him $9 million + for next for a partial year next year only to possibly see him leave as a UFA next offseason? Maybe they will. but that is hardly a given. And if they don't, might Oden find the idea of joining a team that doesn't actually need him to make it to the NBA Finals appealing, with no pressure to be a savior or to rush his recovery timetable?
If able to play, Yao Ming may also want a chance at a championship on a team that doesn't really need him or have to rely on him. He's made a lot of money, both through his previous contracts and endorsements here and in China. What would happen to his endorsement profile if he was part of a championship on the most high profile team in NBA history?
I don't see Dirk or Nash leaving or wanting to leave where they are (especially Dirk), but strange things happen all the time. But there's no point now in proclaiming what one thinks will not happen.

Is this necessary? Did anyone actually expect or think those names were on the docket for this summer?

Trade, no way, but Nash and Billips are possible as FA in 2012.

Have you seen the threads that have been popping up the past week ?

2007 is the last time he was relevant.
People here cry about Bibby's 3p%. I wonder how they'll stomach Baron Davis if he shoots 27.7% like he did in 2010 with the Clippers. And he was putting up 4 treys a game. In fact, check this:

You take out the 15 games he's played with the Cavs and you can see what a horrible chucker he is.
I am sure Heat fans will LOOOOOOVE a guy that shoots 5 treys a game and hits 30% at best.
desert_scar wrote:Trade, no way, but Nash and Billips are possible as FA in 2012.
I think the Heat better focus on FAs they can get this summer.
And why the hell do you keep calling him Billips ?

Um, what part of what he said was wrong? Everyone claims the Heat are trying to be the Yankees yet look at Dallas' 90 million dollar roster. If anything they were more stacked than we were because of the depth they had.

Funny thread. No one expects them to come. In fact, people also make fun about the idea of Nene coming through MLE.
So, the only serious talk here is Dalembert through MLE. And I hardly see people talking about PG.

You are making a big deal. It wasn't a hating thread, and it's Heat's forum.
He's just saying Dirk had a lot of years, a lot of players around him, and only got his ring now, playing with the most expensive supporting cast of the league. Is it false?
So, he's not the answer for Miami Heat in a trade involving Lebron/Wade, since they aren't worst players than Dirk.

This is the Heat message board, so when someone wants to discuss whether a certain player will join our team and whether he'd be a good fit or not, I don't see the problem. It's certainly more refreshing than the 2394234896234062340239 LeBron James threads we've had after the Finals.

Re: Please stop it! Dwight, Dirk, Baron, Nash etc are NOT co
The offseason is extremely boring, so imaginations run wild. But, I swear that Kobe, Duncan, Garnett are going to sign with the Heat for the vet minimum this offseason after being bought out, and Phil Jackson, Jerry Sloan, and Rick Adelman are going to join the coaching staff. Also, the Heat have found a magical amulet that will make all the Heat players have the shooting prowess of the great Kaponovich while making them incapable of choking. In fact, when they try to choke a fail safe will activate and result in the player scoring four pointers like Mighty Toine. This isn't gossip. This will be reality and has been foretold. If you don't believe me just ask SAS.
