Would You Consider Iverson if he has changed?

Post#1 » by The5thSunday » Sat Jun 18, 2011 4:38 am

Allen Iverson Quote:

"Just give me a training camp. Maybe I've rubbed people the wrong way as far as saying the things I've said in my life and in my career. But if any team needs me to help try and win a championship in any capacity, I'm waiting."

I think Iverson has been completely humiliated. We all know the story that not one NBA team wanted him and he had to play in Turkey which had crush his pride. That being said I think he would cooperate with any NBA championship contender especially the Heat who are the favorites in my opinion. If the Iverson experiment doesn't work not much is lost.

So do you think Iverson has changed?

Starting Lineup
Allen Iverson
Dwyane Wade
Lebron James
Chis Bosh
Samuel Dalembert - (with his Haitian background I know he's coming)

Udonis Haslem
(6th man)

Screw it; we might as well. He can't be that terrible. If it doesn't work, we just waive his ass with no harm done. The Grizzlies made it just fine after he was canned. It's whatever, really. I personally would love to see him put on a HEAT uni and possibly contribute. You never know what you might get.

Not sure about him starting.

As a back-up to Wade and maybe spot minutes at back-up PG...sure why not. Give him a training camp invite and see what he has left.

Like Iceburg Slim said, waive him if he tries pulling anything crazy on us.

I see no reason why he shouldn't get a shot in training camp. If the staff feels for whatever reason he wouldn't be a good fit then fine, but he deserves that chance

If Iverson can still push the ball anywhere close to the way he use to I think the Heat would be even faster pushing the ball. After thinking about it a little more Iverson could be that spark that comes off the bench and changes the tempo much like Haslem changes the game when he is in the lineup.

Why not? He has to be better than Bibby and as everyone said the Heat can always waive him. If Miami would offer Iverson the opportunity he would be an absolute idiot to mess up a final shot to win a championship.

No! The only thing that's changed is that he's older and less effective. We don't need him on here.

Perfect spark off the bench since we lose that with Chalmers being inserted into the starting line up. I'm all for it. If it backfires, then so what? Vet minimum, non guaranteed. This is a guy who can come into games and score in spurts, which would be perfect when Wade and/or LeBron aren't on the floor. Aside from the Big 3 we've got good shooters and good defensive players, but we don't really have that type of scoring threat.

I just dont dig the idea that much but I sort of agree with the others. If Bibby can get a spot, then why not A.I? Especially if its an unguaranteed minimum deal.

If I remember correctly, we tried to get him like 5 years ago for J-Will/Walker/Posey or something from Philly and 2 years ago in FA but he eventually chose Memphis. Not sure if it was Riles or A.I who was the bigger reason why he didn't sign here.

Not really sure why we are against this guy, I have no real confidence in the way this team evaluates talent/players - we sign top FA's, got lucky with wade, don't really develop talent - so I'd give him a consideration without hesitation. we take this "off the court stuff" too far, just think, if we had 1 more "attacking/can get their own shot" player during the playoff's, maybe we'd be celebrating

Still trying to understand why we traded Carlos for Bibby, why did we sign house(didn't use him much in post season, even though he HAS a ring), AND WE'RE SITTIN GHERE WAITING FOR PITTMAN TO get down to some magical "body fat % number" before we get him some burn.

I am out of the "Who we should or shouldn't bring here" race, we don't know how to utilize the talent we get anyway.

These threads make me cry.

Please stop it before we get to "bring Jamal Mashburn and Eddie Jones back".

loved iverson as a player but iverson and "team" dont go together. hes basically eddie house 2.0 at this point. i would much rather have a player like vince carter/michael redd/barbosa come off the bench than iverson. if we can get one of those guys and get iverson to take house or bibbys spot id be fine with it but i wouldnt want to rely on him coming off the bench. hell no

Jerry West looks like he's kept in pretty good shape. I'd consider him before I gave Iverson a passing glance...

Iverson at this stage is still better thsn bibby or house. Remember that he still could play in memphis and gave them double digit scoring, he didnt get kicked out of the league becausr he couldnt hang but because he was b-tching for a starting spot. If hes ok with coming off the bench, i'd love him for 15 mins

No thanks. At this point even Jordan would be more effective than Iverson.

I don't get why not it's Allen Iverson all of us loved him as a kid and I would love to own a Allen Iverson miami heat jersey loll he can't be bad and if his ego is gone being on the Miami Heat as a possibly 6th man or even a starter will be good he can push the ball and I saw him play in Turkey he wasn't that bad. I would love Allen Iverson in Miami but what number will he wear #1 is Chris Bosh and #3 is Dwyane Wade loll

Don't see why not

He's young
He can shoot with the best of them
He isn't ball dominant

Looks like a great pickup
Stop being so disrespectful.

He could be our Jason Terry! Mad swag and scoring punch of the bench. Where do I sign?

The annual Iverson threads are an indicator that the offseason has officially begun. :(
