SHHHHHH I think yall are the Sleeper Team for Dwight Howard

Post#1 » by God MC » Fri Jun 17, 2011 12:03 am

Yall have great assets.

Scola, Martin, Lowry, Yao Mings expiring/maybe resigning under a agreeable contract. Budinger, Hayes, Dragic & Courtney Lee

Not to mention sweeteners such as Jordan Hill, Brad Miller *especially if Orlando is desperate to fill their hole at center when they send him to yall*

A Project in Thabeet

Your 2011 first round draft pick

Could quite possibly keep your 2012 draft pick u sent to Jersey it's top 14 protected.

Other things u offer is great culture, Houston is a much more internatonal city than Orlando. Warm/Hot Weather, NO State TAX

Houston may not be LA, but it does has benefits of being a major corporation town. A good agent should be able to market/find endorsements in Houston.

A Capable GM, Morey is considered one of the best.

I don't see why Otis wouldn't want to the Rockets. U offer everything a team would want in trading a superstar. I can possibly see Chris Paul forcing his way here as well if Howard is got.

This is from a sixers fan.

thats great because I don't. Anyways morey wouldn't gut the team w/out getting a guarantee from dwight howard that he would re-sign. I'm not for "gutting" the team but lets not act like we have soooo many untouchables either.

if we gut the team for howard we'll be like the knicks, but they're in the east so they can get away with it. we cant. we'll be back in square one, the same f***ing square we've been in for the last 2 seasons

but if we can somehow get howard for someone like, say...brad miller and his explosiveness, i'd go for it. great deal for both teams. we get the biggest, blackest, mother f***er on the planet, and the magic get some undeniable explosiveness with brad miller. brad miller is determined to explode on anyone standing in his way. they scurred.

Houston is indeed a realistic destination for Dwight Howard if he really demands a trade from the Magic. The Rockets have so many assets: young players, draft picks, solid players with acceptable contracts, so even if a lot of them would be included in a D12 deal, the Rockets would still be a competitive team. However, I doubt with his character he would pull a Melo and throw his team under the bus. He probably would just sign somewhere else as a free agent if things don't work out in Magic. The clock is ticking for Otis Smith.

If D12 is available, I am sure Morey would be the first to call for a deal. He had been actively trying to get a real franchise super star (e.g. he tried to reach LBJ and Bosh in FA, and then tried to trade for Melo). If Morey is trying to get Bosh and Melo (who are fake franchise players), then I am sure he would go after Dwight Howard (who is a real franchise player).

I think Brad Miller's explosiveness deserves its own thread

Why would he resign?

When you guys compare the Knicks gutting their team to us doing it its not the same comparison. The Knicks didn't have as big of a weakeness on d as we do and they didn't get back a player that could change an entire defense like d Howard can. Plus we have replacements, so we trade scola pat can start. I'm not proposing sending Lowry,k mart and Luis plus picks to Orlando for Howard. All I'm saying is we aren't winning with our team so why is everyone so "untouchable"?

I agree that we could put together a good package for Dwight, but we'd have to have a team still here that would appeal to him signing an extension.

Everyone is on the table; but everyone is not on the table, if that makes sense.

this is how morey negotiates his trades. he says everyone is available, but no one can be traded. the guy he's trading with if dumbfounded and confused, and this is when morey does his magic. he decides to do the trade himself cause the other team is too confused to know what's going on.

it's a good strategy

too bad he sucks at it

Nobody is untouchable. Morey has said so many times.
Although like Mr E. said it's kinda everybody, but not everybody.

Also, Morey actually tried to trade for Melo even after Melo's camp told the Rockets he wouldn't re-sign here.
So there goes that theory.

I don't think we're much of a player in the Dwight Howard trade sweepstakes though.
In free agency definitely. But via trade? Unlikely IMO.

Yes, but if you say it in the cryptic nature that I did then you can trick people into believing that you are wise.

Forget Howard, we gonna go after MGasol. At least we don't have to deplete the entire roster to get him.

IDK why Houston isn't a top landing spot for Dwight Howard. As was mention Houston has the trading chips to get him. I think Houston could actually get CP3 too. But thinking about Howard, he worked out last summer with Hakeem. I think having McHale (who was one of the best post scorers in NBA History) has his coach could only help Dwight Howards game. I really think the team who is able to land Dwight Howard will win more championships then the Miami Heat big 3.
