Jimmer Scores 35 to send Lakers packing!

Post#1 » by superd » Fri Jun 17, 2011 12:53 am

I would like to take the best scoring player in college and put him on the floor for the Jazz.

I was liking Biyombo as the best prospect until I saw video where the guy can't shoot a lick. You got to score to win peoples. When I watch Jimmer video the dude is unstoppable. Give him one step, he shoots, he scores. PLUS, his outside shooting brings defenders out and opens things up for the inside guys scoring and getting offensive rebounds. Dallas just won it all playing a lot of zone. Jazz can play zone too.

So, how can we make sure this happens... Jimmer is killing in his workouts, Golden State might want him and Curry in the backcourt when they trade Ellis. Can't risk losing the best scorer in college, so trade down to 6 with Washington and get Jimmer there. Take Singleton at 12. Resign AK47.

Make Washington give up a #1 a couple years from now.

Lineup:
PG Jimmer, Harris
SG Haywood, Singleton or Harris
SF Kirilenko, Singleton
PF Favors, Millsap
C Jefferson, Favors

These top 8 would be very good. Likely 2 first round picks each of the next two years. Trade power to get even better.

Millsap got hurt last year. He is a good backup PF. We need one as I think Favors is foul prone at this stage of his career.

Hard to double anybody inside with Jimmer & Haywood so good from outside. Favors beats most one on one.

Look at the history of college basketball's top scorers over the past 10-15 years and how they fared in the NBA. Scoring at the college level is overrated.

it's all about situational needs. teams draft the person who's available and who could be best utilized under a system.

if you're going from college to nba (unless a already a sure tier 1 superstar) hitting a brick wall is bound to happen.

and lakers are on a decline i think.. so send lakers packing, but grizz, thunder, nuggets, and mavs are in line.

This article supports what the author of this thread wants to have:

By Wednesday, the mania had grown to such an extreme that about 50 media people descended on the Jazz practice facility, about a 10-minute drive from downtown Salt Lake City, to witness the mega-event that was the Jimmer Fredette draft workout.

Which came after general manager Kevin O'Connor would get stopped around town and urged to take Fredette, as if by organized grass-roots effort, because that groundswell of support just doesn't happen.

Which came after months of seemingly endless comments to Fredette, on campus and around greater Provo, from people he knew and friends he didn't know he had, about how going from BYU to the Jazz would be the storybook outcome.

I would be surprised if the Jazz didn't take Jimmer at the 12th pick. Drafting Gordon Hayward last year is a sign of a trend of players they're attracted to.

KOC isn't a politician. He's not trying to please the masses, and I'd use Hayward as an example of that. The kid was booed lustily at ESA when the pick was announced. I appreciate your view as an outsider, but I don't see the Jazz making any attempt to please the BYU fans out there by drafting Jimmer. If they do pick him, it will be based on basketball only.

Jimmer at 12 is 100% sure thing, but after last couple of days i wouldn't be surprised if KoC would decided to take him even with #3, as homie ^^^^ said, last year Hayword pick is appropriate sign for that.

And one more thing who would have guts to not picki Fredette as Gm of Jazz, if O'Connor would not pick him and Jimmer in other club would play big, and his (KoC) pick would be eventually worst than Fredette, he would be cursed by JazzFans, by people of Utah, in that situation death threads are the lightest consequences

Not picking Jimmer is easy only for guys like @Bat or other forum users, they dont risk nothing so they can said whatever they wont, for O'Connor is a different story, specially after what Jimmer is showing last couple of weeks on those workouts proving that his NCAA career was not some kind of fluke.

great argument, so if he would not be top scorer that would be better sing for you :-? He was top scorer and i dont think is bad to use that as his advantage in any that type discussion.

The main reason I want Jimmer on the Jazz is because I believe having his 3 point threat will open things up for Favors inside. The Jazz + The Jimmer = Favors domination!!! This is why the Jazz might consider taking him at 3. No one else in the draft can make Favors' game improve like Jimmer can

If they draft Knight I prefer Klay Thompson position wise. Jimmer won't dissapoint me like I thought before workouts, but he's not going 3. That's out of the question.

Nothing is out of the question with the Jazz because they don't tip their hand as to who they like. I would have thought they picked Hayward way too high at nine last year, but he was the guy they liked and they went for him. I have no clue as to whether Jimmer is high or low on their board, but I like Singleton better than Klay Thompson if they pick Knight. I don't think Jimmer is around at 12, but who knows, and despite the media circus, I don't think KOC cares what the fans think as long as he feels he is making the team better. I think Jimmer would be fun to watch on the Jazz and would help the team, but I'm coming to the conclusion that their are a bunch of guys in the first 14 of this draft that would help the team and will be excited for several of them if they get picked. Maybe no superstars, but maybe also more solid starters or rotation players than last year. Jay Bilas said that everyone is a risk, so just pick the guy you want. For me, this is probably Kanter at the #3, and Singleton, Jimmer or Burks at the 12. I wouldn't be surprised if the Jazz went completely different from the mocks and picked Vesely at #3 either.

Jimmer reminds me of Adam Morrison, great college player, but at the pro level, not so much.

Jimmer will be in the league for a full career. I started low on him, but I've heard better things about him from independent sources since then. I won't be dissapointed, but I will be annoyed by people who will blame Corbin if he's not a super star.

Adam Morrison doesn't belong in the same breath with Fredette.

Well, not yet. He may never either. I don't think he will.

Return to Utah Jazz
