Larry Brown to the Wolves ?

Post#1 » by Wolves21 » Sun Jun 19, 2011 4:44 am

Here's the rumor right now.

he Minnesota Timberwolves, who are in the midst of all kinds of changes with Ricky Rubio coming over, the Draft approaching, and a potential head coaching change in the mix, have reportedly been called by Larry Brown, who offered to take the head job. Kurt Rambis has yet to be fired, and there has been much back and forth between Rambis and team brass, but if a Hall of Fame caliber coach like Larry Brown calls, you listen.
According to

Mitch Lawrence

from nydailynews.com:

Minnesota still hasn't pulled the trigger on Kurt Rambis, but that didn't stop Larry Brown from calling up to offer his services. While they're stringing Rambis along - there is some thought that owner Glen Taylor won't allow team president David Kahn to pull the trigger - the T-wolves have been busy shopping Jonny Flynn and Michael Beasley, trying to get a center in return. They turned down a chance get to get the Clippers' Chris Kaman.

Like a said a rumor that's probably not true. But if Larry Brown wants the job I would wack Rambis Goodfellas style with the plastic on the floor when he comes in for his next meeting.I don't care how old or crazy Larry Brown can get and times. He's a proven winner that always turns around a team in one year besides the mess that was the Knicks and has gotten every other team in his NBA career into the playoffs and has a NCAA and NBA Title to back him up.Mr.Kahn if true take Larry Brown as the coach NOW NO QUESTION ASKED.

bty also if true I like that we turned down Kaman for Beasley and Flynn. That wouldn't have been a good deal on our part.

I believe Rambis is just an insurance policy. I don’t think they have any intention of firing him unless there is a clear upgrade available.

Hahaha... Imagine if we did get Larry Brown (no chance in hell by the way)

We would have to put Darko on suicide watch

If there is one coach on the planet I want less than Rambis it is Larry Brown.

doesn't Larry Brown hate rookies? I think only Phil and Riley would be worse coaches to put this team in charge of.

Lol, that would be hilarious. He would have the whole team sitting on the bench because none of them have enough experience!

I find it a little odd that he would call while we still technically have a coach. I could see him be more along the lines of an advisor with not a lot of pressure. Something like Jerry West in GS.

Same article says:

At long last, the T-Wolves' No. 1 pick of 2009, PG Ricky Rubio, is ready to join the team after a terrible season in Spain. They're not expecting much. . . .

While they're stringing Rambis along - there is some thought that owner Glen Taylor won't allow team president David Kahn to pull the trigger - the T-wolves have been busy shopping Jonny Flynn and Michael Beasley, trying to get a center in return. They turned down a chance get to get the Clippers' Chris Kaman. . . .

Brown likes to teach and he would at least teach them defense.

If they're shopping Beasley hard, they must be in love with Williams. I'm nervous.

the problem with larry brown is he dislikes playing/trusting rookies.

if we want a coach who is rookie friendly, we have to get rick adelman.

in 1998, adelman and kings drafted jason williams and let him loose. in those 3 yrs, they were the most exciting team and was always on sportscenter talk.

i don't need to mention how he coached the rockets. if we are going to let go of rambis, we need to get adelman asap.

Brown is so overrated and hates rookies and young players in general. No thanks.

I have huge respect for Larry Brown but I have a hard time believing that rumor is true. He'd be a horrible fit, too.

The only think worse than Larry Brown as a coach is Larry Brown as your secret defacto GM (a position he almost always assumes). He is terrible for organizations.

Not for me, would love to see a guy like Brett Brown get the job, he has the position of Australian Head coach, but boy can he coach, he used to be an assistant at San Antonio. Kahn, do it.

He would be better than Kahn-Rambis combo.

Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
