They won 5 without amazing PG play. Harper was solid and Fisher had his moments. This team will not win another title with its current PG rotation. The absolutely need to address this and make it a must in the off season.

It isn't all that difficult to address. Finding some way of replacing Odom afterwards is the more difficult part of the equation.

^ I agree ... if the Lakers brass doesn't upgrade the PG spot they should be fired for pure laziness ... this is not rocket science.

Well the problem is that if the Lakers don't get a PG, Kobe is going to have to handle some extremely difficult plays, all the while providing the bulk of the scoring, along with the facilitating. This was possible in the triangle but now it's going to be a major challenge for him if he has to do it all. We're extremely worried about our PG having a three point-shot but the truth is it all depends who starts with the ball.
1. If Kobe is the one to have the ball in his hands for the vast majority of the minutes, Steve Blake is fine since he'll be spotting up on the wing.
2. If a true PG is the one that's going to have the ball, then Kobe is fine on the wing but he's going to get less opportunities overall (think Mario Ellie, Sean Elliot role until the 4th quarter when a player like Blake may come in to spot-up).
Up to the Lakers really.

buckybadgerfan wrote:Lakers need to improve team speed. Easiest way to do it is with a young quick guard that can set tempo, dribble-drive or push the ball in transition. Yes Kobe and Lamar handles the ball alot but they are getting more bench time. A talented PG can provide a change of pace from the slow pace 1-on-1 plays Kobe and Lamar provide.
How did Lakers overlook a talent like Barea?
Uhm JJ is a nice player but he's not a starting PG. He's a great offensive spark off the bench but he will get exposed if he starts... dude is a defensive liability and that's exactly what we don't need considering how bad our perimeter d is.
