Statistically, he's one of the worst defenders now. Or at least he was in 2010.

I absolutely wouldn't do it. I'd probably opt to just stay put at 5 and draft the BPA.

That being said, if BC's looking at a "speed up the rebuild" type move, I can see it.

Jefferson's got 2 years left on his deal, coincidentally so does Colangelo. Maybe a 5 + Kleiza for Jefferson + 12 + Bell deal makes sense? I agree with eastcoast, Bell doesn't provide any offense, but he'd actually be a very good vet to add to our young core, both positionally and from a leadership stand point.

If BC's aiming for the playoffs right away, maybe we use Bargs as a 6th man and try for a two-line team ala Denver Nuggets?

Jefferson/Bargnani
Davis/Amir
DeRozan/J.Johnson
Bell/Burks
Calderon/Bayless

Or something along those lines... we'd certainly be improved, to an extent, if that's what you're looking for.

Harris was never heralded as a defensive stopper. Regardless of what Dallas called him, he hasn't been a solid defender any time recently and has consistently put up a poor DRtg on every team he's played on.

Tks. I'm on a Blackberry right now, so tough to prove/disprove my claim.

If anything, they'd want to pair Kanter with Favors if they selected him.

If there's a possibility that Knight is there at 5, then i say hell no. But since I think he'll be gone before then, I say we do it (depending on what the other piece is).

If i were BC, i'd "hold-on" to this offer during the draft and see who's available at five when the time comes. But i guess it would be unlikely that if Knight isn't there, Utah still does this trade.

I wouldn't be interested if this trade resulted in us taking on guys like Harris, Bell, Jefferson, etc.
I would, however, be curious if they started talking about including a 2012 pick.

The bet here is Utah can take Knight 3rd, gives cle the chance to get Kanter. If they take Kanter, Cle won't take Knight. But if they don't take Knight 3rd we'd get Val, not Kanter, likely.

So we look at the 5, but it has more value to Utah, as for them it represents Knight, while for us it reps Val? If what we value want is between Val, Vesely, Leonard, Walker, Burks, Byombo, even Jimmer. and the separation isn't high, and we actually prefer some of the guys, Byombo for example, slated to go later, than for cost savings alone, there's reason to do the deal.

Now, Utah is showing their hand, and clearly they value both Kanter and Knight, so our ability to find gravy in the deal is determining just how much Utah is willing to pay, to come out of this draft where they had the third, and 12 pick and leave with Kanter, and Knight. Whereas, if we'd consider Byombo at 5, if we get him at 12, we're already better off.

They could do this deal with Cle, unless, Cle, wants Kanter too. otherwise, they could work with them. If they aren't working with them, it maybe tells us that Kanter or Knight, aren't dropping to 5.

Lots to think about. But don't get lost in 5tt to 12th. For our Gm, he should ensure we get paid well for doing it, but interms of players, who knows, in this draft it may not make that big of a difference.

I wonder if Detroit would trade their pick for millsap?

We get 8th pick Biyombo
12th pick Walker

Utah gets Knight.

There better be a 2012 first coming from Utah in a deal, because there isn't much on that roster I would want to take back.

Would Kemba last until #12? Washington won't take him, Sacramento might, in your scenario we take Bismack at #8, the Bobcats are very likely to take him (especially considering that Jordan was very interested in him and may have been trying to trade up for him), Bucks likely won't take him unless they want to move Brandon, and Warriors would pass on him.

If Knight is there we take him and keep him. Utah has nothing we could really use IMO unless it is to flip elsewhere.

Walker definitely won't last until #12.

After us at 5 and detroit at 8 which team is looking for a pg? Walker very likely to fall and even if he doesn't it means that someone like Burks or Leonard or TT is going to be there.

I would be all over #5 for #12/Hayward. But there'd be a riot in SLC, unless they drafted Jimmer to fill the void

How about we just screw Utah over and tell them we'll do the trade. They end up taking Kanter at 3... we take Knight at 5 and run fast.
