This trade would only work if the Cavs take Irving first. It could just as easily play out like this

Williams
Irving
Kanter
Knight
...?

We get 8th pick Biyombo
12th pick Walker

Utah gets Knight.

Walker definitely won't last until #12.

After us at 5 and detroit at 8 which team is looking for a pg? Walker very likely to fall and even if he doesn't it means that someone like Burks or Leonard or TT is going to be there.

yeah after going through all the teams, it looks like Charlotte is the biggest risk to take him (and MJ is supposedly very high on him). I'd love to get Biyombo+Walker, but I guess if it's one of those other guys it works too.

Maybe the 5th best player is Val and then there's a drop off, but maybe, unless Val is taken high, he won't come over, because it's more money, and teams can only pay 500,000 of a buyout. So, maybe we have some insight into that situation and want to avoid it.

Could be that Utah is bluffing us and they'd be taking Kanter 3rd regardless. We can gamble that they don't actually value Knight over Kanter, and see if they'll grab Kanter and 3 and leave Knight to us. That's why we should ask for a lot back.

Biyimbo and Jimmer....

Kings could very well bypass us and take Jimmer at 7...that is, if Utah doesn't take him at 5 first.

Val's buyout will be structured so that the higher he goes the higher the buyout is...only way he doesn't play in nba next season is if there is a lockout or the nba team wants him to hang out in europe for another season.

One thing our front office has been good at is keeping a tight lid on leaks. Nothing get's out anymore. This is probably just one of the many things BC is looking at.

Where are you getting that from? Why would his team give a crap who takes him and where. They want money, teams can only pay 500,000. the rest comes from Val and his agent. There will not, imo, and unless you can show me some source, that would leave Vals team open to taking less, just because he was drafted lower. If anything, if Val's not drafted high, he might not want to lose money buying out his deal. Right now, Val has no buyout, so it's a negotiation, and Val's side needs to know what they'll get in the NBA, to know what makes sense for them to pay his team. If it doesn't make sense for Val, he can play in Europe and get paid and come later. It'll be up to Val and his agent and his Euro team. All NBA team can do, is draft him, offer to pay the 500,000 and hope.

I don't get it. #5 for #12 straight up? Raptors don't get any other compensation?

we don't know what the 'compensation' is. This could very well just be simple speculation. I do like that idea where Millsap is involved, and we get #8 and #12. Not sure if the Jazz would use Millsap to move up 7 spots though.

Where he is drafted will have an impact on the buyout. His team needs cash desperately. So if hes drafted higher he can give them money sooner.

Utah's is hopefully bluffing. Hope they take Kanter, leaving knight to fall to us. I do wonder if any team would take some of our pieces for a pick (10-16).

Also, how far does Nolan Smith fall? Wonder if we could buy a pick for him.

You get Hayward, #12 and a 2012 first rounder....we take it and run. Not many guarantees in this draft, less pressure if you pick at 12. Much deeper draft next year, I'll take that gamble. And honestly, who here is certain that Knight is better than Bayless....not me for one.

If Utah is 'bluffing', I don't think there's any problem for us to simply walk away with Knight at #5.

If you have been paying attention to the Val rumors its already been stated that the structure for his buyout is pretty much set and its only the amounts that are in play...

If I remember correctly the basis of the deal is 1 million dollar x amount per draft spot. The team wants it to end up around 3 million if he gets high pick and Val's team working on getting it much lower.

Jazz are not including Hayward or Favors in any deal.

I would love for the Raps to get either one of those 2, but its a pipe dream unless we include our 2012.

I definitely don't think the Jazz give up Hayward AND their pick next year to move up 7 spots in this draft.

I'm not really attracted to anything they have to offer outside of their 2012 pick first rounder.
