Trade Rumor

Post#1 » by Soul Patch » Sun Jun 19, 2011 11:34 pm

Probasketballdraft
Hearing some within the @Utah_Jazz believe UT should take Kanter 3rd & then trade #12 to the #Raptors for #5 & Brandon Knight.

To me, the sweetener we'd have to throw in to move up would be Millsap. Possibly a Harris, Millsap #12 for Calderon #5 and a future first rounder.

It would have to be more than just Millsap and/or Harris.

Raptors would rather have Knight/Val/Kanter then Millsap+harris + 12 . Also, keeping calderon is not a big deal as he performs really well as a backup and is an expiring next year (likely a good piece with the new cba). I wont get into the idea of the Raptors giving up a future first as well...

If there's any truth to this I would imagine it's more likely something along the lines of :
Calderon+5 for Jefferson+12 or J.Johnson+5 for Hayward+12.

We wouldn't want Millsap with 3 PFs in Ed Davis, Amir Johnson, and Bargnani here. I don't see any realistic deal happening unless perhaps you are able to land another top 10 pick for Millsap (or whoever else) and send that with #12 to move up to #5 to get your Kanter/Knight duo.

I sure don't want the Jazz to trade Millsap and a 12 for #5. Millsap is as good as half the guys in the lottery.

I can't think of any other sweetener Utah could throw in to make the trade worthwhile for Toronto. Hayward and Favors are damn near untouchable, I don't know if they need Harris.

Millsap is the 4th best player of the 06' draft. A draft not too dissimilar to this one. The difference being, he has actually established himself in the NBA and is just entering his prime on a good contract. No way we throw him away for a risky pick in a weak draft.

Now, perhaps the Jazz really like Knight and want to do that, perhaps they send them the GSW pick, but I wouldn't do that either personally. I would rather take Jimmer at 12 and keep both Millsap and our GSW pick.

maybe Jazz want to trade up to get Jimmer before Kings. Sweetner maybe GSw pick plus rights to Miles

PG Harris Jimmer
SG Hayward Bell
C Jefferson Kanter Memo Fess
PF Favors Millsap Evans Elson
SF AK-47 Millsap

Not A BAD TEAM

Thats an AWFUL idea. Next years draft is going to be incredibly strong. Toronto would take that trade, hang up the phone and laugh at how stupid the Jazz FO was.

Will be nice when Thursday has come and gone and people realize the Jazz aren't high on Jimmer like some people are...

I hope the Jimmer fans are prepared for him not being on the Jazz because the people who make decisions at the Jazz org have told people that Jimmer isn't high on their radar.

AK will not be back and Miles will. I pray they can trade Bell and Millsap for a good 3 man. Draft Knight and BAP at 12. If they get the Kings or Torontos pick for Harris and or Millsap then Kanter would be great.

I personally would rather not move up or trade in this draft unless its to bring in a great 2 or 3 that can defend and shoot the lights out. Hayward can play either position we don't get.

You don't take Jimmer over Knight if they're both on the board.

As a Raps fan, I think we'd be very content with 5 for 12 + GSW2012. If that's too much, then how about 12 + the worse of GSW or Your 2012?

Next year's draft will likely be a very deep one. I really doubt the Jazz are willing to the GSW pick. And since we still owe our pick to the Wolves, we can't really trade the lower pick.

Just some thoughts:

- Jazz are not full of assets and won't be wasting them to pick an unproven youngster from a weak draft class; that's not a thing Kevin O'Connor would do... and they have enough problems to decide who to take at 3...

- Millsap and/or Harris can be traded to get proven dudes and some future assets; I would certainly explore that road...

- Jefferson can be traded for a really proven wing and some other assets, but take in account Al's probably the best center ever to play in a Jazz uni, so KOC will demand a hell of a wing for him to project a future 2-3-4 of Hayward, the hell-of-a-wing and Favors... and of course some other sweetener would have to be offered to KOC to do it...

I don't think this has much traction. Our players who are tradeable aren't really what Toronto needs.

Ah, I didn't realise that you didn't have your own pick next year. My bad.

We will if we suck, but since it could go to Minny in the next couple years it can't be traded.

Okur and #12 for Calderon and #5 would be my guess. Making Harris expendable.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Millsap to Detroit

8 and 12 to Toronto

5 to Utah

If Detroit needs to move salary out to make it work I sure they have a blah contract or two to send out...

The Raps wouldn't accept that. That reduces our capspace, and gives us a worse version of Bargnani at C? Not happening. Jose is going to be an expiring after a lockout shortened season, so it's not like his deal is crippling us as it is...there's no way we move down 7 spots with our #5 pick to do this.

Well, that's my best guess, what is yours?
