Iguodala for the #4
Chad Ford wrote in his latest chat that the Cavs or Jazz would be smart to call the Sixer about Igoudala.
Iguodala is available ... and if they could get in the Top 3, they would be able to add a big man. I think the Sixers regret passing on Derrick Favors or DeMarcus Cousins in last year's draft. This could help rectify it. I'd have serious interest if I were the Jazz or Cavs. Iguodala is under rated. Warriors and Clippers have also been trying to get him. If the Sixers are at 16, most likely they go big with a guy like Tristan Thompson, Markieff Morris or Nikola Vucevic. Kenneth Faried is also a possibility here.

This idea probably won't go over very well here. A lot of posters are hesitant to give up just the TPE for Iggy. Throwing in that pick might get you lynched.

The only deal with Iguodala that I want Cleveland involved in is one where AI2 goes to Minnesota and the #2 picks ends up in Cleveland.
Well at least we're not Detroit!

Re: Iguodala for the #4
I don't think so.
Philly get's cap relief (TPE) and a premium pick--- Not.
Iggy get's paid like a superstar and he's not with knee issues. IMO, the CAVs pass on this generous return for Philly.
In the spirit of this trade proposal. How about B. Davis, #4 pick for Iggy and #16.

I think the Cavs are stuck with Baron's contract.

Re: Iguodala for the #4
RJ, I dont think I would even do that idea. I really like Iggy, and feel free to disagree, but I think the #4 is more valuable, and with Baron being an expiring in a couple years he could be the gift that keeps on giving. The #16 isnt enough return imo.
I mean Baron could possibly be moved at the deadline this year or next to a contender with an unfortunate injury, or to a team believing that a rental PG like Baron could put them in the mix to win it all, even if we get a protected first for him that would be a great return.
And I am sure Gilbert and Grant would love to turn Mo into two #1s as a way to defer the actual monetary cost of picking him up. Of course we would take on salary to move him, and we dont kow what the new CBA brings but I still think his contract will have value as an expiring.

I'm curious to see if Cleveland is going to use the TPE exception at all. From what I understand it expires shortly after the lock-out unless you are given an extension. That means management is going to have to make a decision pretty soon.

Re: Iguodala for the #4
gflem, I was just trying to make a proposal that Philly fans would find distasteful too as the original one is to the CAVs. I guess I should have used the green font for sarcasm. If you examine my posts, you will see that I am not in favor of moving the 4th pick or overpaying for the 2nd pick from Minny.
As for the Trade exemption, the CAVs will let it expire rather than make a lop sided trade in favor of Philly as originally proposed by the OP. The trade exemption expires on July 9th and the CAVs have applied for an extension for it in case of a lockout.

Gotcha. I have seen much worse trade proposals passed off as good deals for the Cavs on the trade board though, I guess thats why I took that seriously.

Re: Iguodala for the #4
As a Philly fan, if we were desperate to land a big at 4, I'd be willing to do
Iguodala/50 for Davis/4/32
But Davis would be an unmotivated scrub here having to play behind Jrue Holiday, and I don't believe he and Brand are on exactly friendly terms after the Clippers debatable. So we'd be paying a huge sum of money just to make him go away. I'm not sure the difference between Iggy and the number 4 is a 29M(?) buyout that will net you zero production...

That would be ridiculous for the Cavs to consider that. Really, Iggy, a second option at best with possible knee issues is worth the 4th pick and the 32nd? Again we arent looking to just dump Baron's contract. If we can move him without giving up any high picks thats fine, otherwise its not happening. Remove Baron and the 4th pick and replace that with the TE and that would be acceptable. Then we could deal with Minny for the 2nd pick and it makes some sense.

Re: Iguodala for the #4
So, I'm confused... you think there is a team in the league anywhere who would actually want Davis? You realize a team had to pay a very high pick (lol #1) to move him and got a worse player and not much better contract back... and now that he's a Cavalier his value's increased to the point that he's even moveable?
He is 29M+ of sheer worthlessness, I'm sorry I think your delusional if you think he's moveable without adding incentive... unless your taking back Arenas

Re: Iguodala for the #4
My argument is that the Cavs don't feel any need to move Davis at all. I definitely don't see us giving up a pick to move him. So if somehow you'd want a pick from us to take him, you are sorely mistaken. I'm not a fan of Iguodala, I think he's overpaid for being a 3 on a team. He's good, but I do think his defense is hugely overrated this year and I think he's really a roleplayer and not a building block. Good player, but he's a guy you get after you have most of your team in place. You don't want his contract weighing down your team when you still need to acquire players.

Re: Iguodala for the #4
I dont think anyone is delusional here. No one ever said we expect a good return back for Davis. All everyone is saying is that we wont be giving away any assets to dump him. If thats what it takes then there is no issue in letting him run the course of his contract here.

Shouldn't touch Iggy for the TPE alone.
Definitely shouldn't touch Iggy for the TPE and #4.

Re: Iguodala for the #4
PHI posters mindset: If I were Cleveland I would do that trade. Baron Davis sucks, is fat, is a cancer, etc.
How they should view a proposal: Given the way Cleveland is headed, how they value their players, what their need and strengths are, this trade doesn't help them at all. Baron was a positive role model last year and the Cavs do not need to shed money. That is two reasons why I shouldn't propose this deal and back it up with logic that only makes sense to my team.
