Lidstrom will return for season No. 20

"I don't even want to think about the Red Wings without Nick Lidstrom," Holland said on a conference call. "You're talking about an incredible player, an incredible leader, an important part of the team at an important position. Obviously, if we lost both, it would probably be devastating. These are special players."

Fortunately, Holland doesn't have to think about it for at least one more year.

Both Lidstrom and Holland are in Las Vegas for Wednesday's NHL Awards ceremony. Lidstrom is a finalist for what would be his seventh Norris Trophy as the league's top defenseman. He is also a finalist for the Lady Byng Trophy for sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct and the Mark Messier Leadership Award.

One of the mods want to make an off-season thread?
"I definitely knew he traveled, but I didn't know they were going to call it. That was one of them situations in which a great player made a move...and they called the call. And I was like, 'Oh, man, there is a God.'

Nah lets just try making separate topics for now and see how it goes.

On another note I'm not suprised to see him coming. He can still play and play at a high level and he's still one of the best in the league. His longevity is just amazing.

Yup agree with Nolan man the guy is insane one of the best conditioned athletes I have seen. I guess it's something in the Joe that makes our Wings play the way the do. Maybe the Octopus? either way I am glad he's back lets hope we give him one more cup!
