Re: Iguodala for the #4
So this is the first I saw this thread. I read through and I agree that you guys would be foolish to give away assets to unload Baron when you're not going to contend over the next 2 years anyway. However, I didn't see a consensus opinion to the one trade that I actually thought was reasonable.... Iggy and 16 for Baron and 4. Yay or Nay and is it close or no? I'm only asking because I know you guys want a 3 and Iggy is obviously available.

No, only if we include Minny and get the 2nd pick. Otherwise no no no no no.

Fair enough. But if Minny did want Iggy that bad than wouldn't we just trade him and filler straight to them for the 2?

Iguodala is available ... and if they could get in the Top 3, they would be able to add a big man. I think the Sixers regret passing on Derrick Favors or DeMarcus Cousins in last year's draft. This could help rectify it. I'd have serious interest if I were the Jazz or Cavs. Iguodala is under rated. Warriors and Clippers have also been trying to get him. If the Sixers are at 16, most likely they go big with a guy like Tristan Thompson, Markieff Morris or Nikola Vucevic. Kenneth Faried is also a possibility here.
Is he?
Andre Iguodala will make between $13.5-$16 million per season over the next three years.
To me he is a third option on offense, but what makes him special is his defense, and overall I think Cleveland would be better off passing on him. It's unknown what will happen with Baron Davis and Antawn Jamison who already account for around $30 million in salary.
If Cleveland can acquire Andre Iguodala with some of the players they currently have, I believe they should do it, but not at the expense of the 4th overall pick. That pick can be used in another deal that is more beneficial to the team or on a player that can become special if they use it on the right player.

even then, I still wouldn't want to pay that premium for a defensive wing specialist for a rebuilding squad.

I never said that the Cavs were looking to dump Baron, in fact I was under the impression dumping a player suggested getting nothing of value back. Turning Baron and his millions of worthlessness into a player like Iguodala would be more along the lines of upgrading... not dumping. Dumping would be Philly moving Iguodala for a TPE, which our FO has said on numerous occasions it is not looking to do.

Re: Iguodala for the #4
I think trading a contract for nothing of value is dumping. I think moving a contract and haveing to add something of premium value, like say the #4 pick would also be considered dumping. Just my opinion. For the record, I am not delusional, I just dont want to see the team "dump" Baron with additional assets like the #4. And I dont see our FO being that stupid either, they just paid $27 mil for what at the time was the 8th pick or so.
It turned out to be #1 by a stroke of great luck, but now you seem to think we would move the #4 with him. Of course Iggy comes back, but with an even more horrid contract than Baron. Unless like I said he is then moved to Minny for #2. Then moving Baron +#4 and getting the #2 in exchange would be good value.
Philly could just cut us out if they could make a deal with Minny instead, but since Minny has no TPE to match Iggy's huge salary that doesnt work either. Also, Baron is at a crossroads in his career, his rep is obviously bad, and if he doesnt come back in shape and play the role of good soldier he has little chance of being moved out of here before his contract is up, and no chance of ending up on a contender, or more importantly getting another contract over the vet minimum.
So, if the Baron circa the Clippers shows up here in Oct. he is like you say worthless, but if he is in shape and ready to mentor Irving he MAY have some value at the deadline either this year or next. OR, he may take a buyout after he finds out nobobody wants him and his bloated contract, either way that is far more acceptable for this team than including the #4 to move him.
