Re: WT: Suns to Buy Out Carter
I guess we tried trading him only to be shot down. To be honest, I don't care. I totally see Chicago throwing him the MLE (if we still have one after CBA). He needs some motivation. If Chicago can't resurrect his will to fight, nothing will.

I personally think it's really dumb not to try to trade his contract, but this doesn't surprise me.
Agre with you, but maybe they have ... I still say we could have done the deal with WASH for Rashard and the pick, but .....

He should sign with the Bulls on cheap if he cares about anything.
When motivated he's way better then Bogans and Brewer, specially at shooting, which is Chicago's major weakness. If he wants, he can be the final missing piece of a championship team that way...
no.
Bogans and Brewer are elite defenders while VC is average when he gives a crap
And his shooting is not even that much better
Bulls need a SG who can shoot AND defend like Afflalo

Re: WT: Suns to Buy Out Carter
Bogans and Brewer are nowhere near being elite defenders.
Brewer doesn't have a J of any sorts and Bogans isn't a good shooter either, while Vince is a career 37% 3PT shooter with good form both set and off the dribble along with post skills and ISO ability who scored over 20000 points over his career. There's a massive gap between them offensively.
He's easily the Suns player I've seen who just didn't give a crap for his team the most while in Phoenix, but when he did give a crap he's been a good player. Maybe being coached by Thibodeau instead of Gentry would light a fire under his ass, some guys need it hard to get going.

Re: WT: Suns to Buy Out Carter
Something intersting to think about is the fact that they haven't bought him out yet. There's no need for "negotiation" because it is a clause in his contract that states the final year of his contract is only gauranteed for $4 mil and the team can excercise that option and "buy him out" and terminate his contract. So really all that is left is cut him his check and send him on down the road. So it's interesting that they have not done so as of yet, but instead let it leak that that is their intention. Maybe, possibly to push up the value to teams looking to cut some salary for whatever reason. The only reason I think this may be possible is the fact that all else has been so tight lipped but yet they let out that they are most likely not going to trade his contract but will buy him out themselves. Before some of you start saying why would they trade for him when they can just sign him to the minimum after he gets bought out, the value is in being able to buy him out for $4 mil instead of $18+ mil and save $14 mil. So teams looking to shed some payroll, not necessarily looking to add Carter, might be inclined to up their offers a bit, if not then we will just buy him out ourselves. I just think if the right player were mad available we would make that trade even if it added payroll after 2012, again for the right player that fits what we are doing. Who that player is is anybodies guess.........

I agree - if the right player were made available or the right combination of trades. For instance, the Diaw thing people mention. Diaw and Jackson work dollars wise for one year but with Jacksons second year, it doesn't help the cap situations.
This would truly have to be a trade where the suns are willing to pay $16-18m for ONE year and the other team just wants to save that amount less the $4m. Those kinds of deals are tough to make

I had faith in Vince Carter when he was traded into the valley. Now, I don't want anything to do with his lazy arrogant ass.

My main concern with the wait, which I mentioned earlier, was the Suns cutting him a bigger check than the $4 million. I don't know why they would do it, but they have done much worse in the past. Didn't they cut a bigger check than what was needed for Pav?

This is a not a case of a "negotiated" buy out, it was written into his contract that this final year was not gauranteed and there is a team option of $4 mil buy out to terminate the contract. So they will not be paying him any more than that...........

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte Bobcats forward Boris Diaw has exercised his player option for next season that will pay him $9 million.
Agent Doug Neustadt said Tuesday they informed the Bobcats of the decision earlier this week.
Diaw said after the season that with the potential labor uncertainty this summer, it was a "no-brainer" to pick up the option and avoid becoming a free agent until 2012.
The move comes after owner Michael Jordan criticized Diaw's play in the 2010-11 season.
Diaw, who was nearly traded twice last season, could be a potential target to be moved as Jordan seeks to revamp Charlotte's roster.
The 29-year-old Diaw averaged 11.3 point and 5 rebounds last season.

Oops, i forgot Cho is now in charge in Charlotte.
It would end up being VC/Lopez/#13/2012 1st for Jackson/Diaw.
