Moreover, no aspect of Gasol's game relies on his athleticism, so I don't see why he couldn't play at this level until he hits 36 (at the very least). You're right, though. . . Love is much better value, 'cause of his contract. The disparity, in terms of trade value, is much more marginal than you believe, hombre.
P.S., Who doesn't laugh at Kahn? lol..
Gasol has shown that he can play very well on a team with a great coach and great players. His Memphis days weren't exactly magical, so to expect him to keep up the same production going to a worse team as he gets older is just wishful thinking. Bottom line: Gasol and Odom have much higher value to a team contending for a championship (or on the edge) than a team that is young and rebuilding.
There is no reason for the Wolves to trade for either player as they do not currently fill a glaring need (SG and Center) and trading the Lakers the Wolves best player and a #2 lottery pick for a player that will not be a big part of their future and won't make them a contender doesn't make sense. It only makes sense to you because it helps your team, then you try to justify in someway why the Wolves aren't getting traderaped.
The Wolves don't need forwards right now, so there is no reason to trade with the Lakers.
Its funny to me that you mention them being loaded at a certain position, as if that precludes them from taking on any more players at that position. I mean, we are talking about the team that drafted 17 PGs in the same draft right?
