The coming Millsap trade?

Post#1 » by superd » Mon Jun 20, 2011 3:36 am

I like Millsap, but don't think he is a SF.

We all hear Minnie wants to trade #2. We should trade #3 and Millsap to get #2 and whatever (the pick we owe Minnie would be nice) so we can get Derrick Williams.

Williams will be better at SF than Millsap. We would then likely have 3 stars on the front line.

The 12th pick we take a PG. Jimmer likely gone, so we might take Reggie Jackson?

Why would the Wolves want Millsap?

Moving Millsap to get up one slot? Ridiculous. The only way you do that is for a chance at Kyrie. Millsap is probably a better player than one of either Williams or Irving will end up being. You don't trade guys like him for so little in return.

Don't think that MN would want him without sending Beasley back. I wouldn't give up 3 and Milsap for 2. Just Milsap for the 2 could be a different story.

I go back and forth on so many prospect in this draft. Part of me thinks D Williams will be a beast but never an all star, the other part of me thinks there could be 2-3 small forwards who turn out better than him in this draft (Singleton, Leonard, Hamilton).

I agree that I wouldn't give up Millsap for Kyrie either. I just don't see him as a top tier guard which means Knight will just as likely be a 5-10 range NBA guard eventually like Knight. For the next 7 years no one is going to pass up: Deron Williams, Derrick Rose, John Wall, Westbrook and Paul... So if you want to stick with Harris for a while and even resign him, I am fine with that. With so much post dominance on our team we don't need a score first point guard, we need a passer and a good shooter when left open.

If a Charles Jenkins can be your past first pg with great outside shooting skills that can both feed the post, play good D, and hit down the open 3 why waste Millsap on a PG. I say wait and trade him for a legit SF or SG depending on what Hayward doesn't end up becoming best at.

My draft preference: Kanter/Singleton or Knight/Biyombo, unless Williams falls, then WIlliams/Biyombo.

Millsap a undersized PF alongside Love doesnt work. The Twolves take Kanter if they dont want Williams. Unfortunately, I think the Laker rumor going to happen. Gasol for Love and #2 pick which is way too much for Gasol. Why do teams give the Lakers players?

We on the bucks board would love millsap, and since the knicks are looking to move up to grab jimmer from you guys we have a trade idea.

Ilyasova or Maggette and 10 for Millsap/12.

Or something like Ersan/Mags/10/future first (2013)/40 for Millsap/Harris/12

If not that, then what would you guys like from the bucks assuming jennings and bogut are untouchables.

You are undervaluing Paul way too much. Millsap would have to get a lot more in return then that.

Well for Millsap it would have to involve Sanders and/or Mbah a Moute. Without one or preferable both of them, it just not a good deal for us. No ones touching maggets and illysova is just not even close too enough value for Millsap. Mbah a Moute would fill that wing defender spot we need and Sanders can grow into that big PF who allows Favors to slide over to center without us giving up any size.

I like Mbah a Moute and him and Hayward together defensively would be awesome but I worry about the offense we'd give up without Millsap. He is our only consistent scorer.

Wait... are you suggesting that the Jazz would trade Millsap for Maggette in order to make sure they got Jimmer? That's f__king insane.

We can worry about that later. Right now is about building a solid base. Were not going anywhere anytime soon so lets not be silly and keep guys like Millsap and even Al just to be medicore. Mbah a Moute and Sanders are two guys that fit exactly what we need to be a great team in the future. Either or especially if we could find a good trade to get both would be great value for Millsap.

For the price Millsap is at, I wouldn't go for either of the trades you suggested. The thought of trading Millsap never sounds right to me. I think it would be just about as much of a mistake as it was not re-signing Matthews.

How is Millsap not a constructive piece towards a championship? He produces nightly and at times is our best scorer on the floor.
He works hard night in and night out and he adds versatility to our roster. If we want to run our bigs, Millsap is fine playing twenty minutes a game.
If we want to run small, Millsap can match up well to just about anybody on the right night. His offense speaks for itself. He is more then capable of scoring 20 a game and can pass the **** out of the ball. He can drive, pass, and shoot the mid-range jumper(and at times the 3) A triple threat.

Not only does he play like a champion, but he acts like one too. When was the last time Millsap sat out because of an ankle sprain? When was the last time Millsap sat out because he strained his calf muscle? When was the last time we heard Millsap bitching about the organization? Never. Millsap always gets back up and produces. The dude is the **** epitome of a Utah Jazz Basketball Player.

I dont think you have anything I would want if Bogut and Jennings are untouchable.

I disagree. Mbah a Moute and Ilyasova are nice players; I just don't see the motive to make any of the trades suggested.
