I'm definitely not a fan of this deal. So pretty much the trade is Aminu for Iguodala. Kaman is a goner and Aminu is not a proven product yet. Hate it but if it happens what can you do. We just helped the Clippers into becoming a much more scarier franchise that no one wants to face. Sigh....

Thats if Aminu is included in the trade. I'm hearing they are not looking at retaining any long term contracts. a straight up deal for Kaman works :). To let you know, Kaman and Brand feed very well off each other. They like to play opposite sides of the block and did very well while playing with the Clips together.

Question to Clips fans- How many more years do you guys envision Kaman playing and how many of them playing at a pretty high level? That's assuming we keep him if he's traded rather than use as a rental.

Until he's 40. He's a 7 footer who can shoot, he'll be around for a long time. I think his level of play be something like a Brad Miller, who has had a pretty nice career.

I'm curious to see if this deal really goes down on Thursday
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

RT @ryenarussillo Being told GM's are close on deals & owners are telling them no, wait until new CBA.

But that's not gonna stop the GM's. They have free reign to trade if they choose. And by owners, how many are we talking about? I think, in the case of the Clippers, Olshey has been pegging draft night as our deadline for a while now.

Brad Miller is a good comparison. Like him, Kaman is a very good shooting big man, therefore he'll always have a place in the league for a while. Also, he's got good footwork.

Sterling has been known for vetoing trades at the last second though. That's the only issue here.

Trade talks slowed to a standstill?

Post#70 » by Ranma » Wed Jun 22, 2011 6:31 pm

Eric Pincus, HoopsWorld (6/22/11)
Will the Clippers Get Their Small Forward?
The pool of players the Los Angeles Clippers would like to have before July (Danny Granger, Rudy Gay, Nicolas Batum and Andre Iguodala) includes really only one player who has a legitimate shot to be moved (Iguodala).

Granger isn't available. Gay may eventually become available but not until the new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and Marc Gasol's restricted free agency is resolved.

The Portland Trail Blazers are apparently asking the world for Batum.

For the Clippers, they've had Chris Kaman available to the Philadelphia for months so obviously it's not an overly-compelling proposition to the Sixers.

Part of the issue is Kaman's expiring contract. Philadelphia would actually like a player with a few more years on his deal.

The Sixers don't want to get out of Iguodala's contract only to feel compelled to reinvest in a large, long-term deal to Kaman.

If he's a one-year rental, there are teams out there with trade exceptions and picks (Cleveland with the #4) who can erase that salary immediately and allow for another young player.

The Sixers would like an impact veteran big and Kaman may be the best offer they get on that front before July.

If that's not enough for Philadelphia, what's the harm in waiting until the new CBA is ratified?

There's no sense a deal is near but then things may change rapidly over the next 24-48 hours.

Other options for LA? There may be plenty of opportunities ahead but most after June. Still, the Clippers are motivated to get something done now if they can.

As far as the draft on Thursday, the Clippers have the 37th and 47th picks. They'll be looking for the best talent available, hoping for a sleeper.

Inching to Resolution

Kahn and Kupchak going for the kill

Sam Amick, Sports Illustrated (6/22/11)
The 76ers are continuing to explore trade options for Andre Iguodala, and league sources said that a deal with the Lakers involving Lamar Odom has been discussed recently.
...

Iguodala is in play for Minnesota as well, according to a rival general manager who called the possibility of the Sixers acquiring the No. 2 pick in a package for their 27-year-old swingman "definitely real." The Timberwolves have been seeking a high-level player in exchange for the second selection in Thursday's draft and other pieces.

Was there any merit to reported possible Lamar Odom-Luke Walton-Andre Iguodala trade: According to a team official, the 76ers never had a conversation with the Lakers. LA-based agent Rob Pelinka "is trying to get Iguodala traded to his home city." Hence, the purported Chris Kaman-Iggy dialogue

It is Vecsey, but it makes sense.
