i like joel myers. except for his abnormally deep voice.. i like his knowledge of the game and he seemed to be a good person when i spoke to him before a game once. billy mac seems to be a good person but man i can only picture him doing "something live" postgame coverages.

Re: Lakers new TV and Radio Announcers
I guess this is a one year thing and I expect with the new tv deal that permanent options are being discussed. Billy mac is a great post-game/interviewer, he's never at a loss for words, I don't know about play-by-play though, I guess it makes it easier with stu. But this opens the door for what I've been wanting all along.

Why do people like Dedes, he's the definition of average. I don't know why so many people hated on Meyers, he was more of a homer than other Lakers announcers but he was one of the better ones in the NBA

I think it's really unprofessional how Spero Dedes verbally agreed only to change his mind and sign with the knicks. It really leaves the lakers in a bad spot. With Joel leaving as well. They were kinda left in the dirt and had to scramble quickly. Thus why macdonald only got a year deal. How far we've fallen from the great chick hearn. Atleast we still got stu.

Re: Lakers new TV and Radio Announcers
I like Stu better than the Spurs homer but Joel was gold when we had Hot Rod filling in for Stu.
Good times when our bench held Jazz to 5 points or so in the 4th Q. Joel's swag was at an all time high that day.

i like Stu too, hes very knowledgeable with the game. only thing i don't like about him is he overdo it sometimes, and tries to be "know it all guy" which is annoying. but im cool with him, hes def one of the best in the league.

The Lakers are feeling more and more second rate every day. Billy Mac is trash.

Re: Lakers new TV and Radio Announcers
The fact that it's only a 1 year deal tells me they'll look more extensively next summer. My early pick would be.......
Kevin Calabro
Reading the Spero stuff, seems to me the man just wanted to go home period. For those who think the Lakers weren't meeting his demands, wrong....they've been letting him do his outside stuff for years.
He wanted to go home.

true, but this was different. the lakers own press release stated that they expected their TV play by play guy to be there all the time, so they told Spero he had stop doing the NFL/NCAA stuff. he verbally agreed, but when the Knicks came around saying he could still do NFl and NCAA with them, Spero decided to go there.

LA Forever wrote:Meyers wasn’t pleased about the way being paved for Dedes and not being retained after this season, thus severing his ties with the Lakers. Some of his relationships, including with Lantz, became strained. Despite continuing to do their final broadcasts together on TV, Meyers and Lantz no longer spoke off the air — Meyers unhappy that partner Lantz, who was being renewed, didn’t help him more.
