Clubs and agents are being told next year's salary cap will be set at an upper limit of $64 million with a floor of $48 million.
During the 2010-11 season, the salary cap had an upper limit of $59.4 million.
The league's cap - entering its seven season under the current collective bargaining agreement - has risen every year since the end of the NHL lockout when the cap was set at $39-million.
I'm not suprised, 5 million seems like the standard every year. But i'm really starting to hate this rising cap thing, as it stands right now we're pretty much where we were 7 years ago. Except the teams on the lower are being forced to overpay players just to meet the minimum.
When does this thing top out? I mean teams are just anticipating this rise every year and spending accordingly. I think we need a hard cap number and we need to lower or even eliminate the cap floor.
