On the recent Vesely debate:

Vesely has two high quality NBA skills. He can finish at the rim, and he moves well without the ball. Physically, he's long, athletic, and explosive. Someone mentioned that he could be like Marion. But the more I think about it, the more I think Vesely's skill set resemble those of another former Phoenix Sun... Amare Stoudamire.

Think about it. When Stoudamire was young, he hadn't developed his jumper yet. He was just a cutter who could catch and finish Nash's passes with authority. Like Vesely, Stoudamire was also a poor rebounder and a suspect defender. Nevertheless, he became significant offensive weapon almost immediately.

That's like comparing Javale McGee to Wilt Chamberlain. Amare was not a cutter. He was a powerhouse as a 19 year old rookie. The explosive spin moves combined with his pure power and aggression made him effective right away. Vesely's a twig. He doesn't even begin to have that explosion or power.

I think Vesely does have the explosion. You are right that he lacks the power though. And I suppose it's questionable whether Vesely can maintain that explosion if he packs on another 15-20 pounds of muscle.

Agreed, theres been so much smoke I'd be crushed if the draft ended and the Wiz didn't obtain Kanter.

They could do the deal with 2 teams so yes it is a real possibility.

Yeah, I'd cringe if one of the Morris Twins or Single are still available at that pick, but if they're not...I'd be pretty satisfied with the deal and there's always the chance we could trade back into the first round anyway.

If not, I'm asking Ji to start the next draft thread - which would surely take us to draft night and (because it's Ji), we'll end up drafting some unknown Tibetan 7'5" center with no hops but a lot of "potential".
