No, Deep. We understand. But the question is why should we as fans, care? Especially for the team with the highest payroll in the league and a team that makes so much money, it's absolutely absurd. How much is it for a courtside seat again?

Particularly when we are currently competing for championships, I DO NOT think we should take money into consideration when talent is going to ultimately win.

As bad as Sasha was at times, there is no question that that trade was a mistake. We did not need to trade Vujacic-- we thought we could get away with it. The fact that we got GARBAGE in Joe Smith now looks like a sick joke-- it did not make the team better during a championship run, and it weakened our guard spot and put a lot of pressure on Blake, who ultimately folded.

Now we know we NEED a guard. Kupchak got a little too confident, period.

Lakers have not had a first for 4 years now. Have we really saved that much money. 2 of the picks went in the Pau trade.

Yes the Lakers saved money. It might have also cost the Lakers a 3 peat this year and the money from that would way out weigh the trade money saved.

I could post all the guys drafted after the 27th pick that have been HUGE in the NBA but i don't want to/have to. Rajon Rondo was what, a sophomore when they won their first championship... and he is now their best player?

We could have traded sasha for someone that COULD have made a difference though. Being swept is irrelevant. If we won game 1 of that series with our early 16 point lead, the mavs confidence wouldn't have been so high. Having a value player instead of Sasha could have made the difference. We could have used his expiring contract to attract a better player to our team, a player better than sasha or joe smith. For trading a late first rounder and a 5-6 million expiring, you can get a pretty good player. Ovbiously it was a good trade from a money perspective but as a fan can you blame me for wanting the lakers to spend a little more?

i think that's just a spoiled look at it. the lakers already had the highest payroll in the entire league.

Someone actually believed Sasha could have been traded for a useful player? He's paid 5 mil, is stuck on the bench, and isn't good at anything. Considering the evenness of the pick swap(late 1st for two 2nds + no guaranteed contract) saving 9 mil from removing Sasha is a great deal.

Laker fans are way too spoiled when it comes to trades. Just because it isn't a talent upgrade doesn't make it a bad deal. We all know Buss doesn't have infinite money to work with like Dolan or Cuban. Penny pinching isn't exactly out of the equation for him.

^Agreed.

Anyone who thinks that the Vujacic trade was bad, does not truly understand the business of the NBA. That trade was great and I'd do it any day of the week.

All that being said, I think Vujacic is an ideal fifth guard (at the right price) and I would gladly take him on my team to backup the other four guards at PG and SG.

letting spiro go, trying to dump lamar, NOT telling kobe about brown...letting all the staff go, not honoring lew alcinder..., not putting jeannie in charge...a blown draft move is the least of this teams worries....

For some reason some lakers fan overrate that scrub a lot.

They even think he's a great defender because he commits stupid fouls by putting pressure on a much more skilled guard 50ft away from the basket...
