If we could get Singleton in the first and Mack in the second, that would be perfect. 2 ass-kicking players that fit right in as backups on this team

Where's Thompson gonna play? There's no minutes for him at PF.

Well. Most of next season is done for anyways. So the rookies are going to stay a rookie anyways. Jonas will get more experience than Kanter/Biyombo sitting in front of the TV next season.
Are you saying there wouldn't be a lockout?

The closer we get to the draft, the less likely I think it is that the Warriors make any trade... up or down... or Monta for Iggy... nothing. Keep our guard tandem intact & take Singleton at 11 and be very happy with what he gives on defense. Does anybody really believe Klay Thompson is the target? SMOKE SCREEN It doesn't make sense to add another shooter who can't seriously D up. Trading down is too risky, someone will take CS in the 12-15 range, if not earlier, so just take him at 11 PLEASE! #1 scoring threats can never be completely shut down, but at least they'd be contained with a guy like Singleton in their face the entire game. In some instances, there are players that get frustrated to the point of checking out of games (LeBron) because of the defensive pressure, and that is valuable in itself.
Biyombo is another Udoh. It's a fun idea to play both of them at the same time, but where exactly does Biyombo fit in with the big man scene here? ? Is he the first big off the bench for D-Lee? Would he get minutes over Lou & Biedrins?? Is he a starting Center? Is he big enough to play Center? Is he 25 yrs old with no offensive game? Too many question marks.
Go with Singleton and be happy with adding a pest to the roster. Get bigger and contain the wings, force more outside jump shots and win the track meet.

His stock is very low because he had a very difficult season to deal with - suspensions, stress fracture - but make no mistake, this kid belongs in the top half of the 1st round, minimum.

Shawn Marion isn't getting enough credit for the job he did in the finals, and Singleton does alot of the same things....A guy who can fluctuate from SF to PF with defense is huge...Can also guard the bigger SG's around the league.
Grab another 2nd rounder with polish and we could have 3 guys not only make the team, but be a young part of some roster depth.

Getting kind of greedy with trying to add 2nd round picks, but I think it's smart for this draft if we are looking to build a bench around young, cheap, overlooked talent that have chips on their shoulder. Singleton/Selby/Benson selections would make me harder than that Onyx pokemon.

Yeah but we've had years of knowing Marion is a plus defender at like...4 positions. Maybe not now though. That's yet to be proven with Singleton. 11 is too high for him, if we trade down I could live with the Singleton selection. But not if Burks was still there or if the Jonas Brother fell. I think we pass on Biyombo, we have enough PF's.

Burks is kinda like last years Paul George. Kinda raw, will end up pretty good in the future.
We NEED Singleton, and will be lucky if he falls to us.

I'd say this team needs a Paul George type asset on their team right about now.

I like him for our 2nd round pick even thought i'm positive he won't last nearly that long. I like Smith because he's a Senior point guard that played under a great coach in Coach K and on a veteran team in Duke the past few seasons. He's an alright shooter, a good floor leader and basically a guy who can come off the bench, distribute the ball and play tough defense.

There are questions about Udoh. Size is not one of them. Haven't we been through this already several times, in fact?

Re: DRAFT THREAD part II: Come Together.... Right Now....
11 isn't to high for the best defender in the draft.....Offense is way over-rated in the draft...almost as much as the unknown Euro picks every year.
I'll take a supreme athlete/defender in Singleton and be happy as a clam taking him at 11.
But if Leonard falls a bit, then I'd take him over Singleton. I like Biyombo too. I would probably take Jonas if he fell, but my hope would be that our new management will have really done their work on him as a player, and that contract. It sounded like Riley's been on him for quite some time. Shlenk has been reported as watching him over there as well.

The thing is, the great NBA defenders were also good-great offensive players in college.Tony Allem his senior year averaged 16 points on 50% shooting. Ron Artest was a very good scorer in college. I don't like drafting one trick ponies because if that pony doesn't pan out, he's useless.

He did shot 37% from three, and has been working like a madman on his offense. What you should be thinking here is a bigger more athletic version of Bruce Bowen.....a guy who hangs his hat on D., but will learn to spread the floor and make himself relevant in the offensive game plan.
If I have Ron Artest without the crazy thought process, I'm pretty excited....He's bigger than Ron, and more athletic. And even though Ron's got an offensive game, some would say he's better off deferring.
We have plenty of offense...we need lunch pail guys who can D up, but still find an offensive niche. Also watched a video of Singleton where he stated that based on the coaching and roster Florida State went towards a slow down, half court style. He said that he toned down what he feels he could do on offense based on trying to win ugly.
I don't think he's a one trick pony like biyombo.

Re: DRAFT THREAD part II: Come Together.... Right Now....
I would be happy with Singleton but he's got to improve his finish (on non wide-open dunks) and develop into a knockdown, corner 3 guy.
I dont think Biyombo is a "one-trick pony" unless you round up rebounding, shot-blocking and post/paint D as just Defense. It's kind of like saying someone who can hit the 3, penetrate to the hole and also distribute is a one trick pony guy: Offense.
Needless to say I'm high on Biyombo but this draft is so weird (and devoid of potential stars) that I have no idea of whom might slip to us. I still feel that Biyombo would fit a need and have the highest upside of what is seemingly available. With the latest news here's the new W's draftboard:
1. Valancinaiusdlkjaslas (if he slips, i think we have to grab him)
2a. Biyombo
2b. Singleton (cant decide)
4. Klay
5. Burks (does anyone know if he can develop a J? poor outside shooting numbers and heard the podcast of the guy who hates his form)

Re: DRAFT THREAD part II: Come Together.... Right Now....
I don't have a problem with Biyombo, but with further analysis, Biyombo struggled against his league's bigger and better players, but feasted on the smaller weaker guys. So his rebounding numbers may be skewed a bit, as well as his post up D.
He's an elite shot blocker, and his measurables are off the charts good.

This is a draft thread sir, the questions were aimed at Biyombo. Since we already have a similar talent in Udoh, where exactly would Biyombo fit on the team next season and beyond?
I see a nice niche at the wing that Singleton can easily carve out starting his rookie year. At the very least, we could stick him on the Kevin Durants and Kobes of the world and not get kicked in the face night after night. I can also see him defending 4s like Luis Scola that seem to give us fits. Sounds like a guy that we currently do not have on the roster. Biyombo on the other hand...
Biyombo and Udoh would be a nice tandem of rim protectors, but why let the other team get to the rim in the first place. Keep them out on the perimeter with Singleton.

Re: DRAFT THREAD part II: Come Together.... Right Now....
Can you say for sure that Singleton will be elite in any aspect of the game? He's got defense (potentially) at the wing position and the versatility to defend multiple positions. He won't see more than a handful of minutes if he can't contribute elsewhere whether that be rebounding, scoring or shooting. Right now he doesn't project to be elite in any of those categories. It's too high to take him right now at 11 with other better players on the board.
