People that think Kanter will be the next Koufos don't pay attention to basketball. Koufos is American from Ohio. Never played in Europe and never lived in Europe for an extended period. Also if you watch Koufos in college the guy was a finesse player. He hates to bang and doesn't work near the rim.

Kanter is going to get you buckets that Koufos never would because he loves contact and knows how to use his body. Also the majority of guys coming out of college don't play defense either. It is a lot easier to teach defense and positioning than to teach offense. Defense takes effort not skill.

Another thing people don't realize is the Jazz drafted Koufos at #23. The dude slipped that far and never got to look at him. There is a good reason he slipped and since he was projected top 10 we didn't do our homework well enough. Also at #23 how often does the guy make it?

That's really sad that you guys think Kanter is Hoffa or Darko 2.0

I just don't get how you see that in him. It really, truly baffles me.

If Williams is there are 3 the Jazz have to take them. No contest.

Even if Knight is the guy you want, you take Williams and move him down for Brandon and future picks, or whatever. He's the most likely player to become an all-star, he has a great attitude (despite how insecure some people are about his confidence) and if he DOES end up wanting out, he becomes valuable trade bait. But if he, Favors, Hayward and whoever else reach their potential, why would he want to leave?

I feel like Jazz fans are paranoid about players wanting to leave (thanks Deron), so much so that they'd rather take a "safer" guy despite a considerably lower ceiling.

Absolutely. That's the perfect way to look at it.

Locke is saying the growing feeling in NYC right now is that kanter is the guy for the jazz.

Possible smoke screen for the cavs to get them to try to move up? I'm hoping minny takes kanter.

I don't think the Jazz are smoke screening at all. They are in a perfect spot. They either get Kanter or they get lucky and land Williams. I don't see any reason for them to be smoke screening over that...

7-Day Dray wrote:NO to Kanter! He's Hoffa/Koufos 2.0.

He plays NO defense. This giuy is going to be a liability like Boozer on that end. And people always say he 's a good rebounder, but just look at this video.

He gets no lift on his jumps, so he won't be able to rebound as well or block shots at the next level. And he will get his shot blocked at the rim plenty.

And in HS, he was a "man amongst boys." He used to just bully smaller people in the post, even though he's not a good athlete. When the defenders are bigger and faster at the NBA level, he won't be able to score on them.

He's gonna be a bust, I guarantee it.

If Kahn draft Kanter ahead of Williams, he should be fired immediately (even though he should've already been fired). That might be the dumbest move in the history of the NBA draft (even dumber than drafting 2 PGs with back-to-back picks). Kanter/Love/Beasley would be the worst defensive frontcourt of ALL-TIME! But I hope they take him and let Williams fall to us.

To be fair it should be pointed out that just an hour before this game he wasn't even sure if he would play due to a sore back or something. He then went on to drop 34/13 with a bum back that night. He's already better than Hoffa and Kouf. The kid is going to be a good player.

Why?

why not? So everybody look at his game. But he only played in Europe most of the time.

He has no defense ( Milicic has)

The only reason to draft him it's because of memo will miss a lot of games.

better to draft Knight.

So because he's played mostly in Europe, he's the next Koufos or Darko? All three you listed have completely different games. Does Kanter have mechanical issues that have to be taken care of? Most definitely. Does he get lazy late in games and not move his feet as much? Yes. But the actual tape and footage that has been released of him have actually been meaningless games. In short, he's a specimen, a prospect, who if groomed the right way, can become something special. I like hearing that Corbin and him developed a bond in Chicago because I think Corbin and possibly Malone could mentor him. He's 6'11", 7'2" wingspan, 9'2" standing reach, good shooter, quick release, and is not afraid of contact. With uncertainty surrounding Memo, and Fess as our seemingly only other big, we have a definitely weakness in the big man department. Kanter has the confidence and work ethic to become something special. If we end up taking Kanter, three years from now out Favors/Kanter frontcourt will be amongst the most dominant in the league.

Of course Minnesota is saying that. David Kahn has a big @#$%*& mouth and has been leaking out trades and everything to the media. I think the T-Wolves really want to trade the pick, but will pool all of the offers that come in between now and tomorrows draft and choose the best one. I really don't think Minnesota drafts at 2 tomorrow.

Derrick Williams + George Hill would make me pretty happy. Derrick Williams + anyone projected around 12 would make me happy as well.

It makes zero sense. Why would you call around and tell other teams who you are drafting? He's just trying to get more trade offers for the pick.

Here's how it goes down. Minny takes Kanter and trades him to Washington for #6 and #18 and maybe a veteran. Minny then takes Kemba at #6 and whatever point guard is available at #18. Because everyone knows that you just can't have too many point guards. At least Kahn seems to know this. Now if they could just find a way to get Jimmer too . . .

There will be a bunch of trades. Minnesota may take anyone, and then trade them. Same for Utah, Cleveland, Toronto, Washington.... Don't turn off the TV until they announce the trades.

Chad Ford saying that he thinks Minny still likes Williams over Kanter but is floating the Kanter rumor to see what kind of trade offers they would get. Not sure this does any good since anyone interested in Kanter should have already contacted Minny since they are picking #2. DX has already penciled in Kanter at #2 in their mock. Ford also says he thinks the Jazz are leaning toward Kanter over Knight, but would take Williams if Kanter goes to Minny.
