What I'm saying is that being really, really good at one aspect of the game isn't enough to get him a lot of minutes every night. He'll have to be absolutely carried by the team on offense. Now if you he's a knockdown 3pt shooter, then I could see it. But as of what I've heard it's still a work in progress. Let someone else take him, have him improve then sign him to his next contract.

Chad Ford reports that we have interest in K. Thompson, Singleton, Biyombo and Jonas-V. If there will be none of this 4 available, we may trade down.

That sounds about right. In all honesty I would trim that down. If we can't get Singleton or Thompson we should trade down. Those are really the only two guys I want.

My biggest issue with Singleton is his free throw shooting.
I watched NBATV's Prospect Park yesterday evening and they got me a little more excited about Burks. One of the announcers predicted Burks to be a darkhorse rookie of the year winner. He said Burks has the potential to be a standout player when he fully develops in a few years. That he has a mid-range game, but lacks a good 3 point shot. Has the handles of a PG and the size of a SG.

Re: DRAFT THREAD part II: Come Together.... Right Now....
anyone know anything about damian saunders from duquesne? He seems he could fill the defensive stopper role reading about him on dx. He'll probably go undrafted and would fit a similar need that Singleton would. Got more steals and blocks than Singleton, while being similar offensively, meaning will probably be non-existent his first few years. he seemed to drop off this year offensively with a bigger role, but played much better his soph or junior year.
Usually defensive stopper role players with no offense can be found in the 2nd or undrafted, not in the lottery

I would take Jonas if he fell to us because of his contract situation. Not only would he be nice to bring in next season, he also will be a huge trade chip, especially around trade deadline time if we're still in it. If milwaukee is out of it we could maybe pry Bogut away without giving up too much of our starters.

On the other hand, if none of those 4 are available, then someone ranked higher had to have slipped. I read some speculation that Walker could slip for instance. Players that will be taken before #11 are Irving, Williams, Knight, and Kanter. Likely taken are Leonard, Walker, and Vessely. But that makes 7 players. so one of my likely takens would have slipped if those 4 were not available. Also, Fredette and Marcus Morris might get taken in the top 10, so it seems likely that one to three of those four guys will be available.
The rumors going around indicate should Jonas slip because of his contract, either Milwaukee or Golden State will take him at 10 or 11. If Jonas is taken before 10, then Milwaukee sounds interested in Klay, so it may come down to Singleton or Biyombo.

Singleton, although not a strong offensive player is also a victim of circumstance. FSU was not a team that flourished with offensive talent and like a poster before me said were a grind it out team on offense. Playing with good offensive players should help that, as his offensive strengths are the type of things we need him to do on offense. Hit a 3, and be able to get out on the break or finish off of cuts to the hoop. He's shooting is just not good when he has to create off the dribble as he is not a good ball handler(Much like Dorrell) . He has pretty good shooting mechanics though and is much better when he can get good looks catching and shooting (again the offensive talent at FSU couldn't get him a ton of these looks). He is also someone who prides himself in passing, recently stating he would like his game to eventually emulate Scottie Pippen's (obviously nowhere near as good though).
So I see him as someone whose offense should improve with the spacing in the NBA and with good teammates who can find him on these open looks whether they be from outside or cutting to the basket. Improved FT % is a MUST though

Check out draftxpresses video on Burks. His jump shot looks terrible. I remember getting irritated watching Larry Hughes moving laterally on his jumpers. Burks' is much worse. I think it will take a lot of work to get his jumper consistent. He does look quite crafty getting to the rim though.
Edit: Actually i think Larry was releasing on the way down. At any rate, Burks' jumper (mid or long range) looks like it needs a lot of work in order for it to be consistent.

Minny is being rumored to be leaning more towards taking Kanter, who they think is a better fit than Williams.
Love to see the Warriors trade with Minny and get that second pick.

If Minny takes Kanter I can see a draft like this.
1 Irving
2 Kanter
3 Williams
4 Vesley
5 Knight
6 Leonard
7 Fredette
8 Walker
9 Morris
10 Klay
11 Jonas
12 Singleton
13 T. Thompson
14 Biyombo
1 Irving
2 Kanter
3 Williams
4 Vesley
5 Knight
6 Leonard
7 Fredette
8 Walker
9 Morris
10 Klay
11 Jonas
12 Singleton
13 T. Thompson
14 Biyombo

Burks is nice but will not get much burn behind Curry and Monta and thus wont put up enough of anything to become rookie of the year, let alone have a career with the Warriors.
If we move Monta for Iggy, the all of a sudden we lack some outside shooting with a 1-2-3 of Curry, Burks, Iggy.
Klay Thompson, though maybe not my favorite, does give us roster flexibility in addition to his upside in the event that we move Monta at some point down the line (or this summer).
Singleton and Biyombo make sense because they would play right away.
Some question as to how Biyombo would fit in but how could he not? We do not have any size or ability to defend the paint. if you look at the competitive playoff teams they are stacked with Big men who can step in and play D/rebound.
Biyombo can spell Udoh AND Lee, initially. Lee is the only one playing 32+ mpg. Udoh will likely see something in the 20-25 mpg range this coming season. That leaves another 40+ mpg that can be diced up amongst the rest. Lou is an energy guy off of the bench that you throw in situationally but will not play big minutes. If you're counting on Biedrins coming back to form and playing 30 min per game then best of luck. If that happens...a BIG IF...that's a good problem to have.
If we keep Monta...we need more help protecting the rim. Sure, Singleton would keep the 3 out of the paint sometimes, but then who's protecting Curry and Monta? Or Lee? Maybe Udoh...but homeboy cant rebound.
There is risk involved for sure (like all picks likely to be available at #11) but he could definitely help.

You left Burks out, who most believe has more upside than Klay. Klay might be picked ahead of him, but that is because Klay is more NBA ready. Burks IMO will not slip out of the lottery.

I'm not pushing or endorsing Burks as our pick at 11.
I prefer that Jonas falls to us.

I know Udoh is not a great rebounder, largely due to the fact that he gets out of position to play defense (opposite of our PF pretty much), but does anyone have the numbers on how we rebound as a team when Udoh is on the floor? How to we rebound as compared to when Beans was in with Lee?
I'm just curious because Udoh is not terrible at sealing his man off, and most C's in the NBA average more around 8 rebounds than 10 if I'm not mistaken.

I would like to see a stat on missed rebound opportunities. Udoh does an excellent job of blocking his man off the boards, but IMO pays too much attention to blocking out than crashing the boards. I seldom see him being beat by his man to a rebound.

It's hard to defend from the bench, or from Bakersfield

Burks draft stock might slip since he dislocated his shoulder during one of his workouts according to a Yahoo sports writer Mike Cranston.

There are no missed rebound opportunities - every one of them is collected. If you want to look at Udoh's missed opportunities look at his rebounding rate compared to other players at his position - though all that will tell you is Udoh is not a very good rebounder. Bottom line is probably he's so eager to block shots that he gets himself out of position to rebound. When paired with other guys who can rebound better that's a sacrifice I am ok making given what a plus he is more generally on defense, even with the poor rebounding - I wouldn't want to sacrifice that.
