How about the Mavs at 26? They could really use Ersan's rebounding and scrappy play with the bonus of being able to stretch the court some, on cheap contract that fills a need behind Dirk (see 2011 Finals: Stojakovic, Peja; Cardinal, Brian)

Trading Ersan for anything lower than 20th overall in this draft is silly. Given Hammond's record of drafting, whoever we draft in the last 1st won't be as good as Ersan.

agreed, but we're not contending anytime soon so I will take the upside

my question: Is a late 1st as good as an expiring Troy Murphy? 8-)

I certainly wouldn't be dancing in the streets or bestowing a bunch of praise on Hammond though.

Yeah but if Ersan wants a buyout to get off our team he isn't coming back after this season and I doubt he is our championship piece. Asset maximization, at least that draft pick will be on our team for more than 1 season or draft a guy like Nikola Mirotic to stash overseas and has potential to be a solid contributor down the line.

True, Ersan may force our hand if he wants a buyout.

I think if we can revamp our team this offseason Ersan will be more than happy to come back to Milwaukee next season. Ersan was awesome at the end of the season and in the playoffs in 09-10.

If we got between 20-25 for Ersan I wouldn't be pissed, but with Hammond I have no faith he'd make a great pick late in the 1st.

None of those guys are stretch PFs. That's what the Bulls want and need - more perimeter shooting. Of course, Ilyasova's perimeter game declined this season but hopefully they and everyone else wasn't paying attention to that. :)

I could see the following teams being interested:

23. Houston
24. OKC
25. Boston
26. Dallas
28./30. Chicago
29. San Antonio

Can't trade him to Chicago. Division rival.

Eh, your only as good as your last season and I think it might be time to move Ersan. I'm positive he is a good role player in this league and we might bicker that we could use his production once he leaves our team and is putting up numbers elsewhere, but really I feel like he's a one year rental on a mid-low 30 win team right now, he's expendable to try and find new pieces that make us a 50 win team. Maybe Hammond blunders the pick, but at least he would get something for an asset that might become nothing in a year.

I think he was referencing the non RJ trade to Cavs.

I was actually going to make the joke earlier too. E-five twirl. You forgot the turning stomachs part though. Rescinded.

I know he was. I was pointing out that he may want to get fresh material. The statute of limitations on that joke ran out a long time ago. :)

It will never run out because it was such a mind numbingly stupid comment.

Yes it was. Of course, it has no basis in reality anymore - hence my Joe Alexander remark. :)

I have no real place to put this, since there isn't really a John Hammond thread going on.

But it makes me sad our GM has had three years and hasn't added an above average player to our roster. :(

This would be a great idea if we were rebuilding. Seeing as we aren't it's just another case of half-way Hammond bumbling through his job.

What are you talking about. He did a great job his first two years with us. Sure he stunk his 3rd year but without those great players he brought in those first two years we'd be a below average team with few assets and little cap space. The guy has us positioned perfectly for the future.

I suppose I'd trade Ers for a late first. I don't think there's anyone I'd be really enamored with there though, so I might just pick the best center available in hopes he can play a few minutes behind Bogut. Maybe that BC PG would interest me.
