Blatche?

Post#1 » by dukeknicksirish » Wed Jun 22, 2011 10:05 pm

Who would/could be a potential trade partner to get rid of this big oaf...especially if we do the #6 +#18 for #3 or #4 and get Kanter...

Do you think a late lotto or late 1st rd team would take him on for a pick or 2?

Denver needs a PF... would they do it for #22 and a future 2nd rd?

Personally, I'm not that desperate to move Dray.

Particularly for the 22nd pick in a relatively weak draft.

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

I'm probably the biggest Blatche homer on this site, but IMO, he should be untouchable (bring on the backlash). I wouldn't trade him for anybody in this draft, especially a late 1st round pick.

I'm telling you, we will all regret it when Blatche is traded and beasting with his new team.

Step one is admitting you have a problem.

Step two is traveling and step three is strolling back on defense with your eyes unfocused, staring somewhere beyond the unfortunately placed Mystics attendance championship banners in the rafters while John Wall fantasizes about punching you in the face.

 I'm not the only one that thinks like this though. dlts20 and WizD agree with me.

And I'm not really a card carrying member of the expel at all costs party, but I would at no point consider bandying about the untouchable label, which I would reserve for no one on the current roster, and only John is unlikely to be upgraded upon (because those players who are upgrades are those players use words like "untouchable" in reference to).

Andray is a talented guy who periodically has stretches of very strong play, but at no point in his career have I ever considered him a can't miss based on that talent, you can miss with an awful lot of talent. His use of that talent, however, is pretty terrible; PER-wise he remains respectable based on the volume and variety of his production but winning basketball ultimately depends not simply on activity but on the quality of that activity and Andray isn't really good at, well, anything (he's pretty high usage I guess). That Renaissance Man (in reference to Andray Blatche, that's right, and it even makes sense in this context) approach just doesn't really work in the NBA. Every team has enough talent that the ability to, say, create shots, if they're not good shots, is of little value.

The talent may be there, but it's not doing anything to help, so ultimately who cares if it is? Would you invite your bodybuilder friend to help you move if you knew he was going to flop down on a couch and take a nap as soon as he arrived? Sure he could move a ton of furniture in theory, but you may be better off with someone who you know will actually pick something up at some point.

I'm not against moving Blatchemo at all, but I don't think he has negative value. He might to this team in transition, but I could see him improving in a different environment. He had an uptick at the end of last season, when the Wizards made their push to grab a worse draft spot, and it seemed he'd partially abandoned the silly dribbling and long fadeaway twos, playing closer to the basket, getting more easy scores, improving his efficiency, being more of a real PF. With better conditioning and more of that, he could be a valuable player, and I don't want to move him for nothing. Like McGee, he showed some signs of improving toward the end last year. Unlike McGee, he's a six year veteran. How much longer do you wait?

Why does everyone say this? Why can't he do it here? He was just injured, and that's why he was out of shape. This year, I'm confident he'll back in shape, and if he stays healthy, he'll be a BEAST!

If there is a long lockout, good luck to Blatche as far as staying in shape. :(
