didn't hear about that trade rumor, and i wow you really like him. Last i saw of him he looked like a young Ty Chandler. Good for you guys!

as far as blatche, if he didn't have such an attitude problem i know we'd consider it, however as you know our locker room isn't exactly stable so i would go with a no. the only way i see Det fans liking it is a :

BG+CV+8

for

Blatche+ Lewis + 18

and i'm pretty sure you guys will tear into me for that one.

I think that is a pretty close. I don't think the Pistons get Washington's pick(or they give up a future 1st to get it), because of the extra years on CV and BGs contracts.

It could make sense if Nick Young is not retained. I think Ben Gordon would be a decent fit as a replacement for Young. Gordon is similar to Crawford, but more efficient and experienced. Gordon is overpaid, but I think his production would improve some being in the backcourt with Wall.

Charlie V has serious defensive and rebounding issues, but he could work paired with Booker. Booker would be the offensive PF and defensive SF.

I think 3 things would have to happen for the Wizards to pull the trigger on this deal:

1. Someone tempting is available at 8. Jonas V or Bismack maybe? I think you swing for the fences in the draft, because they give up a shot at 2012/3 and 2013/4 free agency.

2. There is a target for using the $8 million in cap space the deal creates.

3. The chances of a full season are very high - otherwise Lewis salary drops a lot and the extra years owed to BG and CV hurt a lot more.

6. PG Kemba Walker (trade with Charlotte for 9 & 19)

9. PF Tristan Thompson or SF Chris Singleton
18. SF Chris Singleton or PF Kenneth Faried
19. SG Marshon Brooks
34. PF Nikola Mirotic (stash overseas)

DAT, I love the way you are thinking. I would have been satisfied with Thompson at #6 then Brooks and take your pick at #34. But, if EG could pull this off, I'd be ecstatic.

In fact, I think you've been consistently spot on in your analysis of this draft.

One question... hasn't Mirotic pulled out of consideration for this draft? If not, I'd be tickled with getting him in round #2.

The Cats new GM Cho is about accumulating assets, they keep picks 9 & 19.

Mirotic and Bertans both kept their names in the draft for stashing purposes.

I'll post what I think will happen closer to the draft, but my dream scenario is:

6. Kanter
18. Singleton
34. Lighty (think he'd be Booker's hustle, grit and defense in a 6'6" G/F. Plus he can hit the 3 ball.)

What do I think will happen?

6. SF Jan Vesely
18. PF Donatas Motiejunas
34. PG Nolan Smith

Pretty much my worst nightmare.

Thanks for bumping this. I almost started a new thread.

Trying to predict the draft order (especially with teams) is trying to pick the entire NCAA tournament. No one will get it all right. I'm more interested in larger themes.

1. Regardless of spots, what players will the Wizards come away with draft night

2. Who will be the big unexpected risers and fallers?

3. Who will be the biggest name (non-draftee) traded?

4. Other random predictions/thoughts?

1. I think the Wiz come away with Kanter and Tyler Honeycutt

2. Norris Cole will go shockingly high. Chris Singleton and Marshon Brooks will slide.

3. Steve Nash will be traded

4. The Wiz will buy a pick, draft and stash

+2

I really like this as well. As much as I've gone on and on about Faried, Tristan Thompson strikes me as a sure-thing, winner at PF. He's going to be a tremendous defender. Brooks will be a value pick at around the same place Nick was drafted. This kid Mirotic late? Why not?

Dat, for whatever reason, like Rico, I've grown to respect Ernie. Wait, not like Rico. He probably sent EG a Father's Day card.

I post this to say just in case your worst nightmare is what happens (or say two out of three of these guys are the picks), I have faith based on Ernie's recognition of talent that they'll work out. Heck, I still think Seraphin is going to be a contributor for years to come.

Ernie doesn't think the way I do, or you for that matter, but he's more than competent IMO.

fisher, I've been think a lot about Cole being a much, much better player than projected--same way I felt about Aaron Brooks when Nick was drafted. Cole would be a nice pick for the Wizards as a backup, playmaking G.

Kanter does seem to be the guy the Wizards really, really want; but somebody's got to go. I don't see 6 and 18 picks getting him. I think Ernie might trade Andray if Kanter is the pick. Either him or Seraphin.

I have absolutely no idea what will happen, but here's what I think is going to go down:

Wizards will draft Vesely at 6, Nolan Smith at 18, and Jon Leuer at 34.

A part of me thinks they will trade for Kanter, but I don't see them parting with Javale and I don't see anybody taking Blatche. If Vesely isn't the pick at #6, Valanciunas will be.

I hope the rumor of Leonard being the pick is true, though. I like him better than Vesely.

I threw Leuer out there because he's the type player this team lacks.

1. CLE - Irving
2. MIN - Williams

*** We have our first trade. Minnesota trades Williams to Team X for some second tier, youngish borderline all star (I'm thinking somebody like Granger, Gay, Kevin Martin, etc.).

3. UTA - Knight
4. CLE - Kanter
5. TOR - Valanciunas

*** We have our second trade. Cleveland trades Kanter to Washington for the #6 and #18 pick

6. CLE - Thompson

34. WAS - Nolan Smith

nate, that would be a great scenario - Kanter and Smith. Still leaves us with a gaping hole at SF (assuming Rashard never returns to form and/or gets amnesty'd). Fortunately, the 2012 Draft looks to be loaded at the SF position. (Can you imagine H. Barnes with that squad?) Veteran FA stopgap/mentor at SF (kind of a battier-style role player) would be great. Here's hoping it goes down like that!
