He has one of the shortest standing reaches in DX Combine history. It is the exact same as Nate Robinson's.

If this is to be believed and I hope the mocks are right and Dougie is dead wrong, I think this will be a pick that busts a GM career. Clearly Ed Davis is our number two prospect. Any notion to iron Bargs into a workable solution is going to be the first of two nails in a two year GM contract coffin. The second nail is not taking a floor general when there are 2 to 3 available. Going project big to wipe Barg's posterior is gonna flame big time. The reasoning is the whole house of cards is predicated on both Bargs and Biyombo being successful in this new and improved venture. HELLO! Ed is too damn good to keep sniffing the paint can and laying bets that one of these two won't actually trip the other up. These are odds no sane betting person would contemplate and in 649 territory. What would Kemba bring? Sanity for starters. He'd get Demar, Ed and Amir the GD ball more often with our 7 ft black hole working in another town. Going Bismack/Bargs is double your pleasure project big x2. It is terrifying to put it mildly. Want to change the culture? Ditch Bargs outright. Bring in a true leader.

if by all accounts, biyombo is a project and will take 2-3 years to develop...then how does that tie in with bargnani in any way?

Knight and Biyomboo are the clear best options. Valancianous (spelling ?) would be a terrible pick. Not able to play next year, doesn't have an nba C body and is way too thin and will be for at least a 2 to 3 years before he won't get manhanled by opposing nba Centers. Kanter, Williams and Irving will be gone so clearly Knight and Biyomboo are the 2 best options and i hope Colangelo and the Raps front office agrees.

Both Knight and especially Biyomboo would suite Casey and his desire for defense greatly.

It is not where he's from but place The Doug thinks he's going to. Belongs elsewhere.

Key thing to remember is that Casey was at the NY Workout with Biyombo.

He still looks slow off the dribble on the high school tapes.

Its just hard to get excited about Biyombo when your franchise has had Pape Sow, Pops Mensah-Bonsu, and Solomon Alabi in the past.

BB sounds a lot like Pops and Pape. Great athletes, a little undersized. And BC was touting Alabi as 'addressing our need for D and rebounding' after last year's draft and saying he only slipped because of health rumours. Seems like he slipped for very good reasons, and if he was showing any signs of a breakout next year or even the year after would we really take BB at 5?

No kool-aid for me thanks.

It ties in that if he is the 5th selection he will be trotted out to support Barg's shortcomings. If he can't do the job the whole exercise equals FAIL.

DraftExpress: Not sure I've met a more interesting draft prospect than Bismack Biyombo in terms of the sheer depth of his thoughts. Incredibly cognitive.

DraftExpress: That's precisely why you can throw out all the comparisons to African prospects who have come before Bismack Biyombo. Completely different.

Pape & Alabi were second round picks & Pops was undrafted... that's a pretty far cry from 5th overall.

I shoulda wrote down all the posters who said they'd quit cheering for the Raps if Biyombo was the pick. Tonight's gonna be fun!

At the very least by drafting Biyombo its a clear sign management is committed to a long term rebuild. A good sign imo.

Code: Select all

No kool-aid for me thanks.

Speaking of Koolaid wasn't that Wade we overlooked for Bosh? All because we had VC! When this organization makes mistakes it make BIG mistakes. If you have a chance to take the guy who is as fast as a deer forwards, backwards and sideways you do it and you don't think twice.
