There is an article on nbadraft.net that there is a 3 team trade in the works between the Wiz, T-Wolves and the Jazz. Not sure how valid it is but it has the Wiz getting the 3rd pick and taking Kanter.

It says absolutely nothing about what we'd give up tho. Wonder if it's much more than the #18.

The more I hear/read about Vesley and the other big European, the more I want the Zards to draft Thompson or Leonard at #6, assuming Kanter is gone.
Thompson=strength, rebounding and solid interior D...and Leonard=defense, an outstanding motor and impressive athleticism.

Kawhi Leonard would be the WORST option out of all. He can't shoot a lick, and had terrible efficiency numbers in college. He ranked as one of the worst offensive players from an efficiency standpoint according to DX.
On a team with one shooter (who's streaky), that's not a pick I would even remotely consider. Quite frankly, I have no clue how that guy even made it into lottery consideration...before the college season was up, he was seen as a mid-1st rounder.

I really don't understand where the Vesely love is coming from all of a sudden. Was his workout impressive or something. Even columnists/bloggers seem to be worming up to him. Somebody better tell me something because if I hear his name at six I'm gonna be sick...

Sit back and watch WALL WORK!! >:-)

From the article:
"We're hearing that there is a 3 team deal in the works between Utah, Washington and Minnesota. The deal would send the 6th pick and players (and/or cap relief) to Minnesota. Utah would get the 2nd pick and is targeting Derrick Williams. Washington would get the 3rd pick and is targeting Enes Kanter. And Minnesota would move back and dump salary or add veterans such as Paul Millsap."
This makes a lot of sense for everyone. Minnesota, Utah and Washington all have needs that aren't really being met with their position on the draft board. Utah moves up to #2 where they get a go-to big man for the future. Washington gets Kanter at #3. And Minnesota lands Valanciunas or Biyombo at #6 (or maybe trades down a bit more to try and grab Biyombo a little later) while also getting a veteran from Utah.
The only hangup is that Utah doesn't have the right kind of veteran to fit with Minnesota. Millsap seems to be the most expendable vet with value, but he's a bad fit alongside Beasley and Love. Could a fourth team be brought into the mix?

Basketball IS played on two sides of the court, though. Leonard may be one hell of a contributor defensively. His lack of finishing skills are a problem; his shooting form in catch-and-shoot situations gives hope.
The fact is, we're going to get a player with a major weakness or two. I understand Leonard's weaknesses, just not why they're somehow worse than the other players in the same draft range. It's not as if we can, or should even try to, address every team issue in a single draft.
As much as people complain about our woeful offense, that will improve just by having a healthy Nick, healthy Blatche, a year two John Wall and some continuity in our rotations. Our rebounding woes on the other hand...

Re: Slather me, Lather me, Blather me - Draft Thread 5
His main selling points are his physical attributes at his size, which are admittedly very unusual and his ability to finish inside and on the break. He is probably good at drawing fouls, which would ordinarily be a good thing. He's very active and seems passionate about the game and he has a ton of experience playing basketball at a high level despite being pretty young. For a very bad shooter his shot mechanics apparently look good, the value of which is unclear to me.
Anyway, here is another, very informative article, about the draft: it's right, here, the article, if you click.

Leonard did 3 reps on the bench. His 32" vertical and his lane agility time were bested by 260 pound Kanter.
He was also one of the most inefficient scorers in the entire draft.

According to ESPN's Chad Ford, there is a "growing comfort level" between the Cavs and Thompson as the No. 4 overall pick. That isn't good news for J.J. Hickson, as Thompson is a high-upside power forward that can board. Note that stats guru John Hollinger rated Thompson as the third-best prospect in the draft
This would reopen one of either Kanter or Jonas likely being there at 6, correct?
I just hope we have the testicular fortitude to take Jonas at the 6 if he's there regardless of the year overseas.
It could mean that the Cavs are preparing to trade down with us and choose Thompson at #6.

I don't recall all that much controversy about the Young pick. There was disappointment that Detroit grabbed Stuckey right ahead of us, but once we were on the clock, Young seemed like the best player available - or at least there was no other player that people ranked significantly higher.

I know its speculation, but anytime EG pulls a trade, I always feel like we got the short end of the stick. I would feel better if we still get to keep the 18th pick though. I think the 18th pick could wind up netting a decent player. It also sounds like we will be sending some players out. They also mentioned Devin Harris and Johnny Flynn. Flynn may make sense as a backup to Wall, we do not need Harris though, not with Wall I also saw Milsap's name mentioned, maybe we could dump Blatche and get Milsap. One can only dream.

Also there are reports that Cleveland is trying to acquire another lotto pick in return for taking back a salary - Hamilton from Detroit or Garcia from Sacramento.

^ Nate, I've been posting variations of that 4-way for weeks now. If that goes down, I'm taking full credit.
