What do you guys think?

You think they were afraid of Valanciunas and his buy out?

They must not have been given an actual buyout for him. I knew they were high on Thomson though

with the nba lockout,

the buyout shouldn't have been a problem.

he's canadian, maybe he was afraid that toronto might pick him up with the next pick....

I hear tristan is a great kid and you never know if euro players will be busts....

Reachy for Thompson. I would have gone with Jonas.

NBA draft.net had him at 8. I didn't see many that had him above there

thompsan better be picked for a trade, smh at the selection. why didn't we take JV! thompsan is just as much of a gamble with much less potential.

Chris Grant Loves this pick, and his character. He's not going to get traded. After the whole lebron mess they went with people with high moral character and players who can immediately help.

I had Thompson on my Top 10 Big Board for three months (broke the news here in this forum) but c'mon Grant, seriously???

Seriously??????

This is a serious question. Like seriously.

uh what? Tristan can't "immediately help." he has zero offensive game except immediately at the rim

at least we're headed towards another top 5 pick next year, yay silver lining

whatever, gotta stay positive about the fact that obviously we aren't done...no way we keep him and JJ , and honestly after watching some Tristan Thompson highlights on YouTube, i gotta say he is a hell of an athlete, and a defensive monster...he also has great hands, he will be able to set some nice picks with Kyrie...i'm coming around to this...this almost ensures that Grant is committed to a slow, proper rebuild and isn't rushing to throw an 8th seed team together. We get a 2012 lotto for JJ and sessions, and get ours too, we will really appreciate a big defensive body once we draft more scorers...plus, lets wait till we see him and Irving play together first, it could be somethin special.

I don't mind this pick at all. Kanter was the guy I wanted but with him gone Thompson will probably be the next best big. He is a tremendous athlete and defensive player and he does have some low post moves around the basket. A Thompson/Varejao duo can be an elite defensive front court for years to come.
