I'll like this pick a lot if we ship Bargs out immediately

Welcome to the homer club! I knew you'd make it one day. It's been a long hard road.

I'm very happy about this pick. I'm back to where I stood at the beginning of all this.

- Knight/ Walker are no better prospects than Bayless. Give Bayless the reigns.
- We need a player like Jonas more than anything (a hustle big who can rebound & block shots)

Good draft.

In a weak draft with lots of bust potential after Irving and Wiliams, why not go after a player who can star at center. Swing for the fences. Nice pick.

Tank nation continues next year anyways and next year's crop is much, much better.

Was this a good pick for us? Hows his defensive potential?

He has ungodly long arms, and he's very active; he should be able to block and change a lot of shots, if he can avoid fouls. He'll probably have difficulty against very strong centers, but that hardly makes him unique.

Long-term, when you think of a combination of Valanciunas and Davis upfront...that could be an extremely good frontcourt defensively, fantastic on the glass, and capable offensively. We're finally trying to go in the right direction, even if Val flops.

I'm going to hate seeing Walker, Knight and Biyombo destroy us for years to come while we hope our poor man's Gasol can put on some muscle.

Copy my sig if you hate this pick.

Nothing homeristic about it, I just don't see a far superior player available on the board. And I'd still love to see Colangelo fired tonight.

Not happy with this pick at all. Just what we need another euro project bigman. We need talent, not a guy who may or not contribute in 3 years

Valanciunas was absolutely the BPA there. I ranked him the highest on my personal draft board with Knight and Biyombo tied second so I'm happy.

His potential is literally somewhere between Andris Biedrins and Pau Gasol at a position of value. Forget the Euro bias. This guy isn't just some jump shooter. He does his damage around the net, works hard and can knock down his free throws when he gets fouled down there.

It will take time but we will be happy to have this guy in a Raptors uniform in 2-3 years and that's not a lot of time if you're a pro sports fan.

Thats actually true. Perhaps I'll retract my "fail" statement. Its not so bad to have a tall mo fo, and you're right, we should be looking at another top 5 next year to rebuild properly.

I retract. I am happy with this pick.

however... brandon knight... still hurts to think we didn't pick him.

The only similarity between he and Hawes is that they're both white. That is a TERRIBLE comparison.

I continue to be baffled by people who use NBAdraft.net as a source. That site has been a joke for years.

Pros: Better option than Knight or Biyombo and the anti-Euro posters are pissed.
Cons: Not Kemba.

Spencer Hawes plays on the perimeter. Valaciunas doesn't, he battles for offensive rebounds, blocks shots, and sets hard picks. Hawes does that?
