i cant stop laugh at this pick..

dead****

Ive been watching Jonas highlights and games since November. Ive been pimping him out for ages now. How many times have you seen him play?

You do know that highlights don't mane shyt right??
as for his games am curious to know how much games you actually watched against subpar competition out there in Europe.
As for me watching him play,i haven't seen any of his games as the euro league don't do it for me.
soccer yes,basketball no.
i can tell you this though the comparisons that are made of him arent to flattering
brezic/hawes aren't flattering.plus dude is weak..
most importantly there are better players to be had at 5

Like i said before colongelo history being in this town, along with raps fans being delusional will keep me entertained for some time.

Did you basically just say you havent watched any of his games and your opinion is BS too? wow what a (Please Use More Appropriate Word).

Valanciunas was absolutely the BPA there. I ranked him the highest on my personal draft board with Knight and Biyombo tied second so I'm happy.

His potential is literally somewhere between Andris Biedrins and Pau Gasol at a position of value. Forget the Euro bias. This guy isn't just some jump shooter. He does his damage around the net, works hard and can knock down his free throws when he gets fouled down there.

It will take time but we will be happy to have this guy in a Raptors uniform in 2-3 years and that's not a lot of time if you're a pro sports fan. Everybody on here's always talking about how we need to get guys like Marc Gasol or reminiscing about how we could have/should have had Tyson Chandler. Well, this guy could have a bit of that to his game if we give him some time to grow. He's not a project. He's a talent with room to grow.

Yeah...the "Euro expiment", that's definitely still going on. I mean: DeMar, Ed Davis, Amir, Sonny, Bayless, Barbosa, Wright, James Johnson, Joey Dorsey, Reggie Evans...ALL THESE DAMN EUROS HE KEEPS GOING AFTER.

GIVE IT UP BC.

Can people who are against the pick just make a logical argument for why they don't like Valanciunas being picked here?

I just want to see one logical post so that I can see both sides of the argument.

+1

Yup, the same fans who made excuses for Araujo over Iggy and still make excuses for Bargnani today.

Raps fans are the only fans who get overly excited about players they have never seen or couple highlights at best.

I don't know what to tell you if you think Val is a similar player to Araujo or Bargnani.

A rubio situation would be great, really. Gives us a better pick next year, gives him a year to bulk up, and gives us more control over his contract in the years that we might actually be able to compete.

I'm still not sure what I think of Val, but I'm really hopeful.

Yes, one of the good things about this pick is that it points to a continued rebuilding effort. And in the end, that's really the only thing that can save this franchise from perpetual mediocrity.

They're still going through puberty and can't control their raging hormones, therefore, any white Euro is a bad pick.

He still love euro's more than anybody in the league.. I don't know the #'s, but i'd bet since BC's been hired here he's acquired probably the most European players in the league..

Here's some stats for the haters, adjusted for PER 36, with all the teams he's been on:

Euroleague - 18.1 ppg and 13.6 rebounds
VTB United League - 14.8 ppg and 10.3 rebounds
Baltic League - 20.2 ppg and 8.9 rebounds
Lithuania - 19.5 ppg and 12.4 rebounds

Still mad?

Keep in mind that Nbadraft.net and Draftexpress had a pissing contest about Val... Nbadraft.net paid almost zero attention to him up until the last couple weeks or so, so it's no surprise they wrote him off as a Hawes/Brezec type. Draftexpress did a lot more homework, in my opinion, and is just generally a better scouting site, though Nbadraft.net has easily digestible numerical rankings.

Project picks are for good teams who don't need players on their team now. The Raps need players now. And before you talk about contending 5yrs from now or whatever, keep in mind how many years will DeMar still be here. Ed already looks ready to take a step in year two. Amir, Jerryd. Anyway, it's a logical argument.

For some reason, most of the members against the Val pick are spazzes that are only spilling emotion as opposed to coherent arguments.

I don't hate the pick, I just wanted Biyombo that badly. I think people were blowing Biyombo's lack of offense out of proportion; his athleticism will allow him to add to his empty arsenal while he'll go on to become a great shotblocker and rebounder. Val has an Amir Johnson pick and roll game, though I don't think he has his defense. He also can't really create his own shot. He's a safe pick with a low ceiling.
