I like the pic. Its solid. He doesnt have huge upside IMO but I think he can be a very good role player with shut down defense ability. Think a more athletic battier or raja bell.

Hewitt ran a poor mans Jay Wright system to me, with guards on the floor. However referring to the 09/10 season, he wasn't the primary ball handler? I mean Shumpert isn't one of the guys I followed a ton, but I did watch a lot of Favors.

anthony can go diaf, way to show leadership ... you got yourself traded and you got your money, now you'll cry because the knicks didn't want your bum boy who the only reason why you like him is because he's from baltimore?

anyways, shumpert will help defensively

I wanted singleton but i dont mind this pick that much. The pick has a good chance of being trade fodder anyways.

why are people so shocked we took Shumpert? We desperately needed a back up point guard. Outside of a legit starting 5, it was easily our biggest need, IMO. This pick allows us to play Toney at his natural position (2) OR trade him for an asset.

To summarize, with the 17nth pick in what is purportedly the weakest draft in years, we manage to acquire a 6'6, 20 year old point guard with enormous athletic ability and a wealth of longterm potential who immediately affords us the flexibility to use Toney Douglas as a trading chip in search of a big man, and Knicks fans are angry? I don't get it

Really? dude c'mon

We just drafted a guard that can't SHOOT! yes he plays defense but if you're going to draft a player that cannot shoot atleast let it be a player that can bang in the PAINT and grab rebounds!

This franchise is really grinding my gears right now

Shumpert might have some strengths but he is absolutely not the answer at backup pg. Douglas is still much more of a point than him.

I dont think he projects at pro level as a point. Hes a SG. I dont want knicks to trade him though. He has elite athletic ability and projects to be a very good defender. We need to keep him.
