ESPN.com - The Canadiens re-signed defenseman Andrei Markov to a three-year extension, the team announced on Twitter.

The deal is worth $5.75M per season, a source told ESPN.com Thursday.


Montreal really needed to bring him back and if that knee is 100% next year he'll go back to being one of the best offensive defenseman in the league.

His injury really prevented him from getting a long term contract. I think without his injury concerns, he'd be looking at a 5-6 year contract. Either way, that's pretty good value dollar wise for Markov.

I wish he only got 2. Doesn't matter anyways, once he gets injured he'll come off the salary cap anyways.
