Um, Val did finish those alley-oop plays. How does that explain he has no athleticism?

It's not that hard to cneak in a 2-hander, without bending your arms, when you're 7 feet. You only have to jump about 15 inches.

I couldn't be happier. Long term, his potential should have gotten him drafted in the top 3 or 4 without question. Cleveland will regret taking Thompson over Val.

So I was slowly coming to terms with the pick, and you just made me hate it all over again.

I wouldnt say awful, but he's not the rim protector, defensive center colangelo himself said we needed.

That video is great. I don't see any of the supposed upside people say he has. I see the same soft Bargnani-ish play that we don't need.

im starting to come around the pick. didnt really care about him because BC was hinting about knight/biyombo but he seems like a good rebunder/finsher.

not a bad pick considering how weak this draft is.

i will hate this pick if it means ed davis will be traded. after demar hes our best player

I like how when the TV commentator asked him how his game is similar to Bosh's, and Bargs 2.0 w/o a 3pt shot says..."I don't know".

Well that's because my logical hard working reasoning skills actually kicked into gear. What was at work before was my imagination hoping that Val would somehow turn into Pau Gasol.

Yet Bargnani can hardly finish an alley-oop play. Val is athletic relative to his 7 foot frame and there are more clips out there that show Val to be more athletic.

Buyout issues with Val might have scared them off. Dan Gilbert is pretty desperate to get that ship turned around, and it might've looked bad if one of his two picks couldn't come over this year.

I agree with this view. Cleveland wants their shiny new toys and don't have patience to wait a year for one of the two draft picks.

They will try to sell Irving & Thompson as a future duo.

Every clip i ahve seen, he has the tall-dunk soft dunk and the layup. I've seen zero videos that show anything that could even be considered average NBA athletecism. If you have a video that show it, i'd love to see it.

Bargnani has had some monster dunks. I'd say Bargs is a superior jumper to Val, and that's sad.

There are not many 7 footers who are more athletic than Bargnani. Valanciunas just needs more strength

This guy bring everything you want in a center - he rebounds, defends, blocks shots, scores around the basket, crashes the offensive glass, runs the floor well, isn't afraid of contact and shoots 80% FT! This guy will turn out to be a Noah type of player and all of the haters will deem him untouchable in 3 years.

Do you guys not get it? Jonas is EXACTLY what the Raps have been missing since Antonio Davis left town - a big, tough big man who understands how to play like a center. These are the HARDEST players to acquire in the league. We've finally found our center moving forward and he fits perfectly next to Bargs and Davis. Our future now has a light at the end of the tunnel.

Next year's draft will have a dozen or so star players and we will still be in the lottery. We can acquire a future star and have a great looking team moving forward. I love this pick.
Go Raps!!

No that's optimism.. one 4 minute clip erases all this kids hope of being that.

It doesn't matter how hard he worked, 4 minute clip of one bad game in his career as a basketball player is enough proof that he sucks. Way to go education system.

Maybe but from all the highlights (good or bad) and pretty much all the reports, you can't see him being a shot blocking defensive center in the nba. Much better rebounder and worker than Bargnani, very good FT shooter.
